To clarify....he wasn't eating wet food at all as long as mommys milk was there....even after 12 weeks, most pups will want mommy's milk. I appreciate your concern, but he will be coming home at 9 weeks like many other yorkies. I have taken time off to assist with his adjusting. I hope my baby doesnt have any issues as anyone on here hopes be it 9 weeks or 12, they all can run into issues. I know a few who have purchased their yorkie before 12 weeks and the dogs are just fine. He is and will continue to be around other animals & people as he is right now.... I would like to make sure I am not feeding him the wrong things, but I see everyone is pretty much saying I listed the main things in the beginning and to keep a strong eye out for new things I introduce him to (one at a time), thank you. I will do just that:) |
I think that while 12 weeks is ideal, many people get dogs younger and do just fine. I got Jackson at 9 weeks (and no, not from a good breeder - also Jax was a bigger boy... he was 5lbs at that age) and I immediately started my bonding with him, and socializing right away, and he's honestly a fantastic dog with no issues communicating with other dogs, he potty trained quickly, he trains very easily, he's non-reactive/non-aggressive and I know a lot of other fantastic dogs (small ones) who were taken home before 12 weeks as well. So while I do think in general it's ideal to let them stay until 12 weeks, I also really like to get started bonding asap with my pup. And I feel like there is just as many threads you could find of problem dogs who were purchased from respected breeders and kept until 12 weeks, who still have issues (behavioral and health). There's so many things to factor in. However I think anything under 8 weeks is DEFINITELY too young... But congrats on your little one and yes the foods you listed are toxic are definite no-nos! |
okay... :) Just sharing ... good luck with your puppy. |

The judgement on here is ridiculous.....(searching for the block button). |
Keep your "fancy puppymill" talk and how sorry you feel for my puppy to yourself. It makes you sound ignorant. Especially since you don't know a single thing about me or where Marley is. I've never seen a forum so judgemental. You sound miserable. |
chester loves cottage cheese, green beans, stay away from anything pork, ham, hot dogs, those are the things that cause pancreatitiis. Macadamia nuts are bad |

I have been cooking for my Romeo two weeks after I brought him home. His vet approves his diet which is balanced with meat, fruit, veggies, dairy and even a spoonful of ice cream every now and then. For breakfast I feed Romeo broccoli, carrots, mozzarella, chicken and a fruit. For lunch he laps up a jar of baby food (will only eat Apples & Chicken); and, for dinner, he gets either chicken, steak, burger, tuna, fish with brown rice. Romeo is a picky eater and if his food is "mixed" he won't eat -- I have to keep each item separate on the plate. |
