I don't know. But, for a while, on every dog forum I visited - it was all the rage. I haven't been on it for several years.

People still read it and buy into it....and, yes he is a dentist...for humans! Read my post (#41) following the one you just responded to. It has a link that tells who he is.

This site: Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble does not appear to be written by someone as well educated as a human dentist, however, it did convince me to stop feeding the horrid food I had been feeding for years. I would assume the dentist's site likely has helped quite a few to at least consider reading ingredient lists.

Educating oneself about ingredients in dog food is good; however, it is more important to me WHO is handling and packing those ingredients. Sadly, that is something that imho is not discussed enough.

I would add, sourcing of said ingredients is virtually never discussed and rarely disclosed.

A little off topic but not much :)

I started feeding my 15 year old cat Hill's® Science Diet® Senior 11+ Age Defying dry food. She gets a can of Fancy Feast (bad I know but she won't eat any other brand) and a bowl of dry food each day.
I changed to the Hill's food because her proteins were high and vet wanted me to try a lower protein food. SHe was eating Nature's Variety Limited Ingredient.
Since starting the Science Diet food a month ago she is running around like a kitten. No kidding. Not sure what it is about the food but she loves it! SHe cleans her dry bowl everyday. Never did that on NV. They must put catnip (cat crack) in it or something. :rolleyes:

So my point is to feed whatever food works for your pets.
I have not fed Science Diet Ideal Balance™ but I still keep it in my mind that it is there as an option if needed.

Honestly at the end of the day that's what matters! I always say you can buy the best food there is, but if your pet won't eat it or doesn't do well on it, then it's not a good food for that pet! Everyone has to do their own research and then make their own judgement call on what's best for their particular pet!

Which dog food review site is the best/most accurate? I like Petsumer Reports but have also looked at the 2 previously mentioned sites.

I like Dog Food Reviews | Dog Food Ratings not because of the rating system but because of how they list all the ingredients, I like to read peoples comments about it, the articles on the site, and you can sign up to get emails every time there is a pet food recall.

I guess I came in on this late, but I'd like to say what has been my experience to date. We had a boxer boy we lost a year ago on Christmas Eve, we lost him to cancer, had him from the time he was 6 weeks till he was 10 years old. I put him on purina puppy chow until I did research and found a food I wanted him on. Found the food, a good high end good ingredient food, so, I changed him. Now mind you, he was showing no symptoms of having ANY issues on purina. Anyhow, from one high end food to another, right down the list, we tried them all, and guess what, Isaiah had HORRBILE reactiongs to ALL of them. His poor face was fire engine red, he broke out till he bled. Benadryl and steroids became an every day thing as well as trips to the vet. Finally I started home cooking for him, he cleared up. Was in a pinch one day and ran and got a bag of purina, he ate it with NO ISSUES. I was completely baffled!! He couldn't eat a high end food but he could eat PURINA (which I have research, I know what's in it, not fond of it by ANY means) but when I realized Isaiah could eat it and he thrived on it and our vet told me to keep him on it, I did what I had to do. Do I like that he had to eat that when their were better foods out there? No, but I did love that he wasn't in misery anymore and he didn't have open wounds all over him and could even enjoy life. So, I kept him on it till the day we had to give him back to God. Think what you may of me, but the choice I made for our Isaiah was the best for HIM, and as a Mom, I did what I had to do for HIM, not for me and what I wanted him on. Fast forward to now, we have another white boxer, her name is Gracie, TOTAL repeat of what happened with Isaiah. Tired of switching foods, just recently tossed a bag of Chicken Soup cause of the recall, switched to TOTW (Didn't know Diamond Pet Foods made it) found out they made it and PLUS Grace started breaking out worse, which she had started doing on Chicken Soup dog food. Tossed the bag of TOTW, started her on Merrick Wilderness blend, things got even worse. Now on Purina for just about a week and guess what? She's clearing up. Now, judge me, call me stupid, ignorant, whatever, but I do what I have to do for my furkids, it isn't about me, it's about them and what they can tolerate and what they thrive on. Do I like that Gracie is now back on a food I have research and disapprove of, no, but, this is what I have to do for HER. Just my experience.

I would never trust Purina with my dogs life and sense there chicken jerky is killing dogs I don't see it as smart to put ant dog I love on that food. I am not even talking ingredients or what its rated I am talking the company and that all they care about it money. Way to risky for me.

As far as I'm aware of, they never found anything wrong with their dog food. I'm in no way defending the jerky treats, I'm well aware what they are doing to pets and it's very heart breaking, I'm stating my personal experience with Isaiah and Gracie on the so called "high end and good ingredient" foods and what they have done to them. Isaiah done well and thrived on Purina, and Gracie is doing tremendously better now that she's back on it. So, I do what I have to do for her. Would I feed them the jerky treats, heck no, and if the day ever comes when their food is causing problems like the jerky treats, then I'll do what I have to do then as well. I wouldn't purposely put their lives at risk and don't feel I'm doing so now, and neither does our vet.

You might not know until its to late not to mention you are supporting a company that is all about money and is ok with the fact dogs are dying because of there treats. Its like buying clothing a food at a pet store that sells puppies.......

I'm not gonna sit here and "debate" this with you or anyone else so that this thread gets closed down. I've posted my experience as I've stated before, not to cause an uproar, but to write what my experience has been. Please let it lay.
