| ![]() So Truffles lives in our apartment she only goes outside to go see her grandma about twice a week and car rides all the time . She has a screened in porch with real grass that she goes potty on and then comes back inside . I have noticed when at grandma's she goes none stop when she's outside. How long should I allow her to play out there? It's already been in the high 80's so I would love to hear from people who deal with hot hot weather because I'm from Pennsylvania and our dogs play allday because its nice out . Sometimes Truffles after playing throws up water because she over does it. I need some opinions on how long she should be allowed to play outside . Thank you ![]()

| ![]() Tibbe plays outside for long periods with the temp in the 80's & doesn't vomit. Might get the vet to check & see what is causing it. Does she eat right B4 going out or could it be vomiting from reflux?

| ![]() She never vomit food just water. And its only every once in a while ... But when she's outside she does not stop running ... She runs the fence runs after everything just never sits down. I believe its like working out to hard ... She over does it that's why I wanted to know how long you let your pups to play outside . She plays just as hard inside and never vomits? It has to be over heating .. took her to pa last month and she ran and played like 3 hrs and just fell asleep after so it has to be heat/ play related

| ![]() In the hotter weather- April/May thru October/November- Abby and Ziva play outside early morning than late afternoon when the sun is away from their play area. It is already getting hot enough that when their black back fur feels hot I make them go in. 20-30 minutes would be max. |

| ![]() Tibbe doesn't run all the time when he's out playing but he'll be out for as long as 2 hours in heat in the 80's or low 90's with a bowl of water in the shade - but I believe I would tell the vet about it and get a time-frame for how long is safe for a nonstop runner to play out in the heat and when to call a halt to it.

| ![]() One of my pups overheated recently .... our heat and humidity here is very stressful for the pups. I do not allow mine to run for hours outside. Ever. The active ones can really do themselves in. I strongly suggest you break her outside time up into shorter time periods and definitely keep her well hydrated.

| ![]() Here are a couple of links you may want to review about dogs overheating. It can end up being a medical emergency: Dog Dehydration and Heat Stroke Symptoms, Causes and Treatment Heat-Related Illnesses

![]() She has overheated a couple of times...it does not take long in this climate. I have to watch her like a hawk. Just break up the times and get her inside for water and some breaks. Then let her out again later. That's what I do.
