| Feeding Raw One Meal and Kibble One Meal How many feed raw one meal and then kibble the next meal? I was feeding Riley Primal Premade Raw for breakfast and then Kibble for his dinner. One reason I was doing this is so that when we travel he will eat kibble. When I ran out of my last bag of raw I just started doing kibble breakfast and dinner and just haven't bought any....but I went out and bought a bag over the weekend. Was wondering how many people do raw for one meal and kibble for the other? I just switched Riley from TOTW to FROMM and he is Loving it. I was finding that I was having to add something to the TOTW kibble to get him to eat it.... I noticed from the beginning that I was having to do that but instead of trying another kibble, I just bought some canned Weruva paw lickin' chicken and I put about 1-teaspoon in the kibble. With the FROMM I am not having to do that. He will eat it with Nothing.... and seems to really like it. I got a bag of the Pork & Applesauce which I started him on. Have a bag of the Chicken A La Veg coming. So my plan now is to do the Primal Premade Raw for breakfast and then the FROMM Kibble for dinner. Hoping he does well on this. |

| Everything I have read suggests to be careful doing this because raw is broken down in their system in 5 hours kibble takes 14-24 hours for their body to digest. And if you are working toward raw it's best to go 100% as it helps detox the organs and system. I went from kibble to cooked chicken to raw |

I attended two separate seminars... one by a Primal Raw representative and one by a Nature's Variety representative. They both said it isn't a problem, although they did recommend if you are going to do it to do it at different mealtimes. But they also both did confirm what YT "Ann" had posted in a thread back in 01/12..... : [The tummy can digest both raw and non-raw food at the same time. The tummy doesn't categorize things according to it's raw status; the tummy recognizes whether the substance is a carb, a protein, a fat, a toxin - and then processes and churns accordingly....moving the substances into the small intestine as they're ready. Even if 2 foods have differing digestion times (whether they're raw or not), the stomach doesn't delay all digestion based upon the slowest food. It releases its enzymes that correlate with the specific food type, and food moves into the small intestine as it's ready to proceed in the process. Digestion doesn't get 'blocked' by one food that is slower, and then the slower food causes some sort of bacteria crisis. If that were the case, we'd sure have a lot of sick people and animals whenever they ate foods w/ differing digestion times, lol! Also, I'd think we see a totally different food pyramid that had to do w/ digestion times, rather than with types of foods. An analogy for humans would be sushi...it's raw, and it's non-raw...and our tummy handles it as it handles other carbs, proteins, fats - in whatever form they arrive into the tummy.]

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I attended a Natures Variety Seminar and a webinar with a dog nutricionist, and they said the same thing, I am doing kibble in the morning and raw medallions in the evening,I also do their recomended rotation, the only problem I have now is that My Chanel Coco had develop a sudden allergy to chicken, so I had to remove chicken from her diet, when I buy chicken for the rest of the pack i have to buy a smaller bag of salmon or anything else for her.. I had been feeding NV for about 3 or 4 years now. |

| Hmm... Gizmo gets Primal Raw in the morning and night...It's the only thing his tummy has done well with. Just gets a little pricey, and we haven't found a kibble he likes. But I don't know how I feel about the kibble and raw.

Ry has been eating FROMM kibble for dinner since Sunday afternoon and I don't even have to mix anything with it. I did the Primal Raw for breakfast the past 2 mornings. I feel pretty comfortable doing raw one meal, kibble the next.

| Update: Update: Riley's environmental allergies had started acting up a teeny bit about a month ago..... since I have been doing the Primal Raw Morning and Night, his skin has just about completely cleared up....and his hair is soooo soft & shiney!! It isn't as dry as it was before.... [and I even ran out of his Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Pet pills that I usually put on his food...] So that is just from the Primal Raw alone. I have been occasionally doing the FROMM... I would say he has gotten that about 3-meals out of 14, this week. I am thinking that he has been having such Great results with the Primal morning and night, that I will do the Primal Raw full time and just buy a bag of the New dehydrated formula for when we travel. I still have the 2 bags of FROMM to get through but after we get through them, it is on.... all about Primal!! Yay! I am sooo Excited!! |
