| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I feed Joey Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier, and I know it isn't sh . . . I truly believe it's one of the best foods out there for Yorkies. What do you base this information on, have you studied nutrition?

| I'm most certainly not a dog nutritionist but have researched dog foods in my goal to provide my dogs with the best natural nutrition. Royal canin contains no real meats and has gluten and corn products in it. These have a history of causing allergies in dogs. A good place for someone trying to find a good product for their dog is "dog food analysis". This is my personal opinion and that of several breeders and yorkie owners I know. |

I'm sorry but I believe dog food analysis is one of the worse sites on the web. Only one person reviews each food and none of the people who review the food have had any training in nutrition. Why would you have confidence in what they say? Not only that, but so many of the ingredient lists are outdated, you can’t even rely on them to give you true ingredient list. I've only had one college class in nutrition, but I have a strong science background and I'm able to read scientific studies. RC does have real meat as the first ingredient, chicken meal is real meat, and it has much more protein because it has less water than fresh chicken. I'm not trying to convince you to use RC, but calling someone else's food choice sh** is so insulting. I love my little boy so much and I truly believe RC is a quality food. I also appreciate the fact that they do scientific studies on their food, and have proof it does what it says it will do. I know people who have toured the factories and say they are spotless. So many people think that doing “research” is reading a bunch of different opinions on the web, opinions are not facts and no matter how many times they are repeated, they will not a fact unless someone has scientific proof. The bottom line is that I believe it’s important to have respect for other people’s choices and calling a food garbage or worse shows a lack of respect.

| I said its a good place for someone to look. It may be a terrible site in your eyes but it does list ingredients and information that some people are not educated on. And again my opinion I don't like it and would never feed to my dogs. Nancy I'm not disrespecting your choice but then I could throw stones and say you are disrespecting my choice opinion and right to speak it. I respect your opinions and advice on many many things we have all discussed on yorkie talk and respect your ability to read a research report. But this food is on the bottom of a long list of food choices I'd provide to my dog. Why I switched to raw. |

| As I have stated before there is no best dog food just want is best for your individual dog. I have two dogs and both tolerate different foods. Let us not bash dog foods because to me each dog rating site has a different opinion. I agree we are not experts. We know that we should avoid things like corn and by products etc. Let's respect each other's personal choice and preference. |

| Toby is now 18 weeks old and I have been giving him Fromm gold puppy. When I got him his vet did not even think he would make it he was so tiny and frail, but with the recommendation of one of my friends that has seen Fromm do wonders for dogs. I tried him on it and he is now 2lbs 6 oz. and healthy and happy. The vet said what ever I am doing to keep it up because he is very healthy. All I have done is give him lots of love and feed him Fromm. It is pricey, but to me is well worth it. |

| I do agree it's harsh to call a food "sh.."! While I think RC is terribly over-priced for some of their formulas, and God knows Nancy and I have argued this before (but I still love you!) but RC is by far not, like, the most disgusting you could possibly feed or anything. I actually appreciate all their research that they've done, and I do think they are a trustworthy company (though I wish they would have their own manufacturing plant). Do I think all the seperate breed specific formulas, etc, are worth it? Not really. But some do *shrugs* and that's fine. It works for them. If I personally were going to feed RC, I'd probably pick a different breed specific formula - as I like the ingredients and the protein/fat ratios better on a few others. I will say most dogs I've seen, whether in real life or online, who eat RC have fantastic coats. My uncle's GSD is on RC large breed puppy. If I were going to call a foot sh*t, it would be something like Ole' Roy, NOT RC. Even if it's not my top choice, it certainly does work for dogs, and I will respect that at least. I definitely think ppl get too hung up on "stars". "Oh this is a 6 star food! So it's all good!" but those sites pay NO attention to where the food is produced, where the ingredients are sourced, etc, etc. So while I like them as a basis to find different brands, and comments, I don't hold too much merit with them. I mean, they have lots of Diamond foods listed in the 5 star/6 star category... and I don't trust them at all these days.
