Dandruff O.K., my doggie has dandruff. A LOT of it. It took her to be groomed for the second time, same groomer - her cut suc!ked AGAIN. And I swear her dandruff is worse. Anyway, the groomer was like, she will have dandruff for another year, she is still a puppy. (She is 8 mos. old). She told me to use Head and Shoulder (WHAT???) to bath her. NOT GOING BACK. Plus, I saw what I think is a freakin flea on her. Since I never had a dog, I am learning everything, but a tiny bug in her fur is a flea right??? I bought the Frontline Plus to put on her but I was trying to wait as long as possible to use it because I just don't like medication, but I am going to have to use it NOW. I can alleviate the flea situation, but I don't know how to deal with the dandruff. Do any of you guys have any suggestions, cures??? I am so p!ssed off right now. I paid to have my dog taken care of and instead I got a mess of a cut and a flea. Anyway, my question is

So sorry you had such a bad experience with the groomer Sheldon had a little dandruff when we 1st got him, I have been using yorkie splash and shine for the last 3 baths and I don't see it anymore. Could it be allergies?

No, not allergies, she had it when I got her. Everyone just tells me it is because her skin is dry from the cold weather and having the heat on. I am researching groomers in my area. I found one who got best of Boston 2011, SO I am going to call her tomorrow and talk to her. I like her philosophy on her website. SO, we shall see. I won't take the dog to be groomed again for a really long time, I want her hair (that I chopped off) to grow back and then MAYBE I can get her groomed properly.

| I use a little tiny bit of coconut oil in the final rinse, along with a ton of creme rinse/ conditioner and let it soak in for a few minutes.

I use earthbath aloe and oatmeal shampoo and found a product called tripett green tripe. They have a beef tripe with duck and salmon which is great for coat and skin issues. It's 100% natural pure tripe a little nasty to your nose but wonderful for your dog.

I have Earthbath for puppies. It is a wonderful smelling, really gentle shampoo, but I have only used it once on her. I was told not to bath her too often. I also have the tripe stuff. PEWWWW. But she loves it. I will look up the tripett tripe with the salmon in it. I have our first vet apt. first week in April, so I am going to ask vet what she thinks I should do. I know some people have suggested fish oil capsules. I take fish oils, so I have them, but I hate to fool around with her digestion because I pay for it if she eats anything different. She craps her brains out. Not fun. I have to leave for work soon and I SO hate to leave her. I just want to hang out with her all the time and I can't. WAHHHHHH. Since I don't lock her in the ex-pen anymore while I am at work, she is doing much better with not walking in her pee and poop. I gate off more of the kitchen and just let her go in and out of the ex-pen. She has actually not had any accidents in the past few days since I started doing that. Plus she doesn't jump on the pen like a nut when I get home because she is not locked in it. She just jumps on me LOL, but that is easier to stop then trying to get her to stop jumping like a pogo stick and quiet down in a locked pen!!

Has anyone used this stuff? Alaskan Bear Treats Wild-Alaskan Salmon Oil for Dogs I have been reading about the salmon oil for dogs and this brand has gotten 4 and 5 stars consistently. A lot of the reviews have said that it helped with dander/dandruff and dry skin. I can get an 8 oz. bottle on Amazon.com for quite reasonable. I would prefer to use something specifically for dogs then just cut open one of my own fish oil capsules that have other oils in it as well. Plus this comes in a pump container. Any input on if and what brand/type of fish oils you guys use would be appreciated. I THINK I found a great groomer in my area. She answered all my questions (said she thinks she knows about the groomer that I took her to that SUCK!D - without me saying the name of the place - said she gets new customers who say the same thing I did and they don't go back to this place), her prices are great, her reviews are all 5 star, she got Best of Boston 2011 and has been grooming for 20 years. SO, I am going to wait till the end of April and take my doggie there. In the meantime, I have to try and get this dandruff under control because I swear I am having an allergic reaction to it. I try and vacuum the kitchen and the couch where we sit, I wash my clothes her bedding, etc., all the time. But the stuff just keeps coming off her. Now, worse than ever since I took her to the bad groomer. I don't know what the he!! shampoo they used. I don't want to even bath her for a long time because she is SO dry. Hence my decision to try the salmon oil.

What a naughty we puppy. I'll be home for two weeks when the new pup comes home. He will have to be in the ex pen for a month at least. But I don't think I'll have so much to worry about because him and Teegy have each other to keep busy

I actually saw that product on Petsmart.com. There is a PetSmart near where I work, I think I will run over during my lunch hour and get the GNC one. PetSmart is great because you can return anything, even food!! Plus then I can get her on it quicker than ordering anything online.

Yes, I saw that the tripe contains fish oil, but it is canned food and I don't really want to add any food to her kibble. I like to feed her the hard kibble. Keeps her poos better. Which is why I would like to just add an oil to the hard kibble. Plus I can't find the fish oil food online in single cans, just cases. And I can't find any stores around me that sell it, so I would have to buy it online.
