Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Help! What food? Hey guys! I have a question. What food do you feed your Yorkie? We had Katie Scarlett on the Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier Puppy Formula for a while. That is what her breeder had her on so we kept her on it. She never was crazy about her food. She would nibble here and there, but it was like pulling teeth to get her to eat the minimum amount she was supposed to be eating each day. We do feed the occasional treat, but not too often. So we thought she may just not like the food. So recently we slowly tranistioned her to Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream. She handled this really well. Her poopies and everything seems normal. But she doesn't seem to be liking this food either. I just cannot get her to eat. I am worried that she will get malnourished. What should I do? Should I keep her on TOTW or do we need to change? I want her to enjoy her food, but she just isn't at all. I am reading over the dog analysis reviews but am so lost on what to try.

| We mix the NOW grain free small breed 1/2 and 1/2 with the GO duck formula. The duck bites are small enough. I thought the NOW was a little too high in the protein area, but is a good food so my breeder recommended the 1/2 & 1/2 thing that she does. Really like the Petcurean brand - small reputable Canadian company.

| mine are on totw and cedric is very picky. he will sometimes eat it sometimes not. i give him the chicken canned version of totw and mix it with his hard food. sometimes i mix chicken breast cut up real fine...or veggies. i have to constantly change it up cause doesnt matter which hard food i tried he wasnt having it. i have also read some furr parents mixing in baby food just being sure there is no onions in the ingredients. good luck i hope you find the solution cause picky eater syndrome is hard on the budget and the heart worrying they may not be getting enough.

| Sophia's on Blue buffalo basics (turkey and sweet potato). She gobbles it right up!!! You might want to see if you can get some samples of other TOTW flavors, maybe she prefers another flavor

| What's the % protein of that food? I feed Life's Abundance, my dogs love it and it gets delivered to my front door! Plus, I save a ton of money by not going into Petsmart or Petco!

| When Callie wasn't eating I started mixing a little wet with her dry food and that seemed to really help. Maybe that is something you could try.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | I think I may try mixing in a little bit of wet food to see how that goes. How much do I add in? I will contact TOTW too and see if I can get some samples. If she still doesn't like them, we may swap brands. Thanks again guys!

| We feed TOTW...the lamb and potato I think it is (purple bag.) Here is what makes a HUGE difference for us. I add an omega 3 oil to the food and they go crazy for it. If I don't use the oil they don't care to eat it at all. The omega 3 oil is good for soooo many reasons, so adding to make their food more appealing to them is just a bonus. We use the Nordic Naturals Omega 3 Pet. Product Details You can order directly from their site. I love this stuff!

| Mikki eats Taste of the Wild. But the only one she will eat is the High Prairie (Bison and Venison). She wouldn't touch the others. Have you tried any of the other flavors? I know they have sample packets that you can get before you purchase it.

| Jackson used to be really picky, and he's definitely become not as picky anymore. I think I worried about it too much or something. But I dunno. There are definite foods he enjoys more over others. We have always had the best luck with Acana - he gobbles it up. I do mix wet food usually for one meal, but then he eats dry for the other. We are liking their new Singles line and on the duck & pear formula now; trying lamb & apple next.

| I started Riley with Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier...... He was finicky until he hit around a year. I am now feeding him TOTW. I usually mix about a tablespoon of Weruva [found a place a few blocks from me who carry it....] in with it..... but when we travel he will just eat the kibble....then I will put a teeny bit of water in with it. |
