| Taking Uni to the vet tomorrow =/ She's getting worse with her itching. She's now got about 5 or 6 welts on her body. I put CO on them, and I give her a tiny bit to eat too. I always keep shirts on her now bc of all the scratching. Her hair breaks off so easily. I haven't given her any thing different to eat. She's on NB fish and sweet potato. Should I ask for a steroid shot? Last time the vet recommended Missing Link. Didn't do a dang thing. She doesn't have fleas, her hair is so thin it's very easy to see down to the skin, and no flea dirt. The only thing I can think of is I had started brushing her teeth again, but with an old tube of CET. Can toothpaste go bad? Could that somehow trigger a flare up? She's always been itchy, but lately it's gotten much worse. It's been cold and rainy here, but the week before that, hot and dry. =/ What else should I ask the vet for, and what should I try to remember to ask him.

| Poor Uni. I don't think the toothpaste would cause this, but you should buy a new tube (I need one too). I don't have any advice to offer, but wanted to send well wishes and prayers that the vet can figure out what is going on.

| Heidi has been on Taste of the Wild - i decided to try NB this time & within an hr she started itching. She ate it a few days, all the scratching kept going on. I took her off NB & put her back on TOTW - 4 or 5 days later the scratching stopped. I got to thinking maybe it was a coincidence, so i gave her NB as her training treats one night -- it all started all over again. She had some NB in the past that didn't bother her at all. Maybe they've changed something in their ingredients? Its been 3 days now since the last time she had NB, and once again the scratching as almost completely stopped now. I got rid of the whole bag of NB and will not be using it again. It might be worth holding off on it a few days & see if it makes a difference for Uni too.

| I think it might have been the fish & venison, but honestly i'm not really sure. I've already thrown away the pkg. She loves all of the TOTW flavors, I was just trying to give her a little change of pace.

| I mean the venison, not fish & venison.

| Ok thanks. Uni will eat anything I give her now, so at least I'm not worried about her turning her nose up at something new. I'll talk to the vet about it, and give it a try. She's almost due for a new bag of food anyway.

| I hope Uni gets some relief soon I know how frustrating allergies are. Jada can't eat much of anything without itching. So far the only kibble I have had luck with is the Natural Balance LID Sweet Potato and Venison. I know any type chicken makes her itch as do any grains and fish gives her loose bowels. It might take a shot to get Uni some immediate relief, I know that during two of Jada's worst episodes a shot was all that worked. I also keep a prescription of hydroxyzine on hand if she starts scratching a lot. It seems to keep the itching from getting out of control, but I only use it if she has been itchy for a day or so. I hope the vet can do something to give her relief tomorrow.

| I was hesitant at first to get the shot, bc I wasn't finding out what was causing it, but I know the shot will give her the much needed relief. Perhaps if at least some time for her skin to heal.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I'm sorry Uni is so itchy. Hopefully the vet can help her out tomorrow. What does her skin look like? Does it appear dry, greasy, flakey red, inflamed, little red bumps all over, a few scattered red circular areas, or just the welts caused by her nails? How often do you bathe her and what do you bathe her with? What is her water in take like?

| I hate the shots, but the two times she had them she was itching so bad it was horrible. My vet told me her reaction to chicken was comparable to a human being allergic to poison ivy. I keep socks on her back feet now also when she is itchy. It has kept her from doing a lot of damage to her skin and hair.
