| Dangers of Vaccines for Small dogs Hi all, I'm sure many of you have seen this information, but I thought I would share this video just as a reminder. Our little guys just cannot handle vaccines in the same doses as the bigger guys! Listen, read and research before making vaccine decisions affecting your dogs! | Thanks for the reminder. After our last set of vaccines, my Rosie had a reaction. Made this a reality for me. Thank God I had Ladyjane to help me through the entire experience.

| Thanks for posting! I agree -- vaccines can be a scary thing. Jackson had a reaction at 12 weeks old due to lepto. It was a terrible experience for a 1st time puppy owner. I have since made myself aware and will most likely be titering from here on, except for rabies (which is required by law, and thankfully, he did not have a reaction to).

| Titres can be more expensive, but in the long run they might save your furbutt's life, and that is priceless. Remember, any indication of immunity is "enough"...some vets try to convince you that if you don't have certain "levels" than your dog is not protected, when in fact, all it means is that your dog has not been exposed recently to re-build immunity. Sometimes; I think we just don't think when it comes to our pets...I don't know about anyone else, but I know the only vaccine I've had since childhood has been my "tetnus" shot. Why would our dogs would need more shots after puppyhood? I'm also resistant to the idea of continual re-vaccination of rabies, although because it is the law I follow it...but I also support the "Rabies Challenge Fund" which is in the process of raising the money needed to complete a 7 year study that would help indicate the effectiveness/longevity of vaccines. | When we had Lilly (our 7 lb maltese) vaccinated for rabies, they kept her for awhile afterwards to make sure she didn't have any kind of reaction to the vaccine. The big dogs were getting their shots and leaving right away, but they said because she's such a small dog they wanted to keep her awhile. So there must be something to the small dog vaccine concern.
