| my poor baby's constipated! meesha went to poop and she started crying as if she was dying it was sooo scary, i had to pull some poop from her butt, she was running so fast and crying and then trying to poop again and doing the same thing, i made her drink more water. I gave her some ground beef boiled and some peas and carrots, today she usually eats her royal canin puppy and sometimes cesar chicken and liver wet food once in a while, would it be from the hamburger? ughh i thought i would try her with home cooked meals, i never want to see her hurt like that again, her poop was really dark too almost black, should i call the vet tomorrow and get her checked out? | Also, you do not need to cook her veggies, infact it is best not to cook them just use fresh or frozen thawed veggies. When you cook/heat veggies it can remove the beneficial parts of the veggies & take out the nutrients. |

| Constipation can cause them to be gassy. If she doesn't improve in about 24 hrs or gets to the point that she can or does not go at all, get her to the vet ASAP. Also, you may have said & I missed it but how old is she ? Sometimes dogs with full or impacted anal glands will suffer from constipation so you may need to check or have her anals checked. Also some dogs can not handle ground beef. Last edited by lillymae; 01-18-2012 at 09:53 PM. |

| The only thing that I gave mine when she was that young was a little apple every morning. It kept her bloodsugar up in the morning until I could get to breakfast and it kept her bowels regular (did the same thing when my kids were toddlers). Or frozen/thawed grn beans. Othere than that I didnt change her diet at all until she was well established in our home for several months. Hope she is all better quickly!! |

| If her poo was black, put a call into your vet. It maybe absolutely nothing, but sometimes black stool can be a sign of bleeding in the digestive track. |

| They do sound very pitiful when they cry and it does make ones heart jump up in their throat when they do. Mina is a year and she still shares an apple with me and the other dogs almost every morning. My husbands 92yr old grandmother told me to do this for the kids when they were little. I still make my kids eat apples if they complain about their tummy. |

| Yes, anytime stool is not the right color, I would call the vet. Hot Rod gets constipated from time to time and I give him sweet potato or carrots. Does the trick every tiime. I've been trying to keep a potato in the house so I can have one made up for them so I can give this to them throughout the day for treats. He loves his veggies. We normally will give each of them a treat after we eat our dinner. By this I mean we each give them a piece of something little, like a string bean or a 1/2 a spaghetti noodle, a carrot slice, etc. Maggie doesn't like a lot of veggies and neither like fruit. If we just touch the treat in whatever sauce we have at dinner, Maggie will eat it. lol Hope your baby starts to feel better.
