YorkieTalk Newbie! | Newbie Hello everyone I'm new to this and recently a new mommy to a 3 month old male yorkie who's name is teddy who I absoultly adore. The breeder had him on eukanuba so that's what I've had him on but after reading things on here I feel I should switch him to royal canine. What's everyone else's opinion on this. Thank u Teddy's mommy Kristin 😊 |

| I think RC is a decent food. Eukanuba has a Naturally Wild formula that isn't too bad, but I think they did have a recall this past year for something.... but I don't think Eukanuba is the worst of the worst or anything, and neither is RC. A lot of Yorkies seem to do well on it. Some don't like this site, but I think it's a good starting point: Dog Food Reviews | Dog Food Ratings - it's just a convenient way to look at all the different foods, read some personal reviews about them, etc, in an organized format. But if the food you happen to feed is "just a 3 star food" or whatever - I wouldn't worry too much about it either. If your dog does well on it, then that's great. I prefer to avoid wheat, corn, soy (they tend to be plagued with the most recalls, from what I've seen). The big recall of 2007 was due to wheat, I believe, in most foods and a lot of the recent aflaxtoxin recalls in the past few weeks were due to moldy corn. I don't mind some grains though, although my dog seems to do better on grainfree. I also really like this site: www.dogfoodproject.com

| I have been home cooking for my dogs now for 11 years. Recently, though, I put them on some dog kibble for convenience when my life was getting very busy. Teddy has been eating the Royal Canin yorkshire terrier formula and he has done very well on it. I am definitely committed to going back to home cooking, but was very pleased with the RC food for him these past few months. I think it is a good choice of food.
