| Why are they all of a sudden pooping machines? For about the past month Toby and Speedy have been pooping machines. I thought it might be the food so I switched them to Castor & Pollux Weight Management food. They are STILL pooping machines and I haven't changed the amount I feed them. Toby gets 1/4 c. in the morning and evening and Speedy gets between 1/3-1/2 c. in the morning and evening. I'm afraid they are pooping out all the nutrients in the food that is good for them. Is it possible that the previous food (Hill's Science Diet Weight Management food) and the Castor & Pollux both are causing them to poop more? They used to only poop twice a day but it has turned in to 3-4 times a day now. Is that normal?

| They are getting less fiber with the Castor & Pollux. Went from 12% to 6.4%.

| I find that Jackson poops less, and more firm poops, while on grain-free. We did grain inclusive for a few months and he wasn't, like, a pooping machine but I am happier in general with his condition on most grain-free foods vs. grain inclusive (there's a few, however, that I'd still feed). Have you ever considered trying grain-free? It could be that they are simply not fully utilizing some of the ingredients in the food, thus it all comes out They may not need all the fillers. I must say, even though I am not currently feeding it, Jackson probably had the best poops on Go! food (makers of Now! as well). Acana is another favorite. I wouldn't say 3-4 is necessarily abnormal; but I think 4 is pushing it. Jackson typically poos twice a day, occasionally three if he gets a lot more exercise.

| Thanks Brit. I'm trying to watch their weight but maybe I can get them off the weight food and put them on a regular grain free food and just give them less of it. I'm willing to try anything at this point!

| There's a few grain-free options that are pretty low in fat/calories. California Nautral carries four grainfree varieties now (chicken, salmon, kangaroo & lamb). Wellness Core Reduced Fat also offers a nice formula for weight loss. A lot of the Go! and Now! formulas are made pretty simple... a bit lower in protein/calories/fat. I would just feed a bit less, exercise more. How much do you think they have to lose?

| Toby only needs to lose one pound. Speedy doesn't really NEED to lose but I'd like to see her lose about two pounds. She is solid muscle. What is a good caloric count for yorkies? The food they are on now has about 357 calories and the fat content is about 10% if I remember right. I just took Toby to the vet for a "weigh in" and he's at nine pounds. I like to keep him at about 8 lbs as that is a safe weight for his LP not acting up. I give them frozen green beans as treats and the vet said they can have as many green beans as they want. I only give them about 5-6 per day.

| Princess has always pooped 2-4 times a day. That was while she was on Diamond Puppy, Acana & now Science Diet Rx. Besides it sometimes being an inconvenience, as long as it's not runny or "off" looking I don't think it's a problem.
