I don't think I could do rabbit. As much as I despise the rabbits that poop all over our yard and make it so that the boys can't step foot in our backyard, I still won't let dad kill them.

I can't stand lamb. I eat indian food often and they always try to push the lamb on me but I just don't care for it. I do like calamari - in RI it is breaded and fried in olive oil with hot pepper rings and served with marinara sauce. It's so delicious.

Yes, I've eaten Kangaroo. Kangaroo Kabobs to be exact. I honestly thought it tasted just like a steak kabob.

My poor Daisy had three chick pea meals. She woke up vomiting bile and foam. My poor baby. I'm going to give a pepcid and calm her belly down because I don't like the way she sounds and I think she is in some discomfort.

Thanks. I'm sitting here wondering what to do with her food. There is a part of me that wants to continue the chick peas because maybe it is the transition that is bothering her. Then another part of me says I should put her back on the soy nuggets (lesser of all evils?). Or do I order the kangaroo.

Cathy, you are going to do what ever it takes to make this sweet baby better. Even if it means ordering the kangaroo! Why don't you try the rabbit first? Maybe be easier to handle. Lol

That's a good idea. Agreed with rabbit first. It's far less rich than what I assume kangaroo would be.

I actually was leaning toward calamari, but then I remembered the squid bodies gross me out. I suppose she could just eat the rings and they are readily available frozen here. I could boil them and chop them up for her.

She can tolerate eggs. The problem is balancing it out. I can't feed her just eggs because she needs a lower protein diet and I need something else for calories. She also needs lower fat, because her blood tends to go lipemic. Then there is the whole allergy problem.

I heard it cooks up like chicken. I can get it from a butcher at the spanish market to try it without having to do all kinds of ordering and waiting. I don't want to do too many new things at once. She is sitting here gurgling and looking pathetic.

I used to spend summers in Paris every year. Rabbit is like chicken there. It is in no way considered "exotic". The only big difference is, if, for example, I chose to feed nothing but rabbit to my pet, he would in effect eventually succumb to a lack of fat. It is EXTREMELY lean. Therefore, I would assume you would have an easier transition with rabbit to begin with.

Well adding fat is not an issue because she tends to tolerate the addition of fish oils or coconut oil. We can get her up to around 6-8% fat. I could probably do rabbit-fish oils-potato or maybe rabbit-fish oils-sweet potato or even rabbit-fish oils-peas. Grains do not work for her at all. Tilapia and Oats landed her in the hospital.
