| Help! Hi everyone! My lil Yorkie Diddy turned one in October. Ive been feeding him Nuturo-natural choice wet dog food for a while now. He is clearly over it. I want to switch to something else...I just dont know whether to keep with the wet food or switch to all dry. Lately I have to bribe him to eat...so i cut up chicken and mix it in or turkey...but I dont want to keep doing that. I just dont have any idea what the best food to give him is.

My furkids Donating Member | he should be eating dry food and wet as a treat or topper...the dry food has more good "stuff" in it than the wet and it will help to keep his teeth clean. I use Merricks Grammies Pot Pie kibbles and as a treat...wellness 95% chicken...they don't get wet very often..

| Thank you. When I first got him I was told to leave his dry food down all the time because he was so little. I just never took it away as he got bigger. So now I am thinking its too much to leave it down all the time. Thank u.

| I actually believe wet food to be better, but it's more expensive, so I do feed kibble with some canned mixed in. Kibble does not help their teeth. It would be equivalent to us hoping our teeth get brushed properly by eating hard pretzels all day. Teeth brushing and other tooth maintenance will help keep the teeth clean. Canned food is great because it's made with fewer carbs, and often made with higher quality ingredients. It contains no preservatives, no artificial colors or flavorings. There is more moisture content. I posted in your other thread about foods

| Thanks. Omg the teeth brushing is a whole other issue. He hates it. He clenches his mouth shut so I cant get in. He acts like its the end of the world. I just tried to brush them. I gave him a dental stick because i wasnt able to do it. He clearly is the boss..... ugh. lol

To get Taycie used to brushing her teeth I started with a piece of gauze wrapped around my finger then I slowly introduced a tooth brush. I buy a baby tooth brush for Taycie. It is the 4-24 months old Oral B one. I like it because it is super little for her tiny mouth. Taycie did not like it but I made it a positive experience. I kept trying, never giving in and always had treats handy. Now, we brush morning and night and so far no problems. Good luck! It can be a struggle at first but it is so important to brush these little guys teeth!

| We are currently feeding our dogs Before Grain Buffalo dry food. They really seem to like it. We also got some samples of Taste of the Wild and they loved those too. We may buy TOTW next time. We also had good luck with Nature's Variety. I always feed them dry food, so that's what they are used to.
