I actually believe wet food to be better, but it's more expensive, so I do feed kibble with some canned mixed in. Kibble does not help their teeth. It would be equivalent to us hoping our teeth get brushed properly by eating hard pretzels all day. Teeth brushing and other tooth maintenance will help keep the teeth clean.
Canned food is great because it's made with fewer carbs, and often made with higher quality ingredients. It contains no preservatives, no artificial colors or flavorings. There is more moisture content.
