| Bella is eating very fast... Hi, Bella is 3 months and since I brought her a month ago I noticed that she is eating very fast without even chewing her food. After that her belly is bloated obviously and I dont think its too healthy. is there a way to make her eat slowly somehow? Thanks! |

| My dog eats very fast as well, however I haven't noticed any bloating. Weird thing is that when I first got him I "free fed" him so he would eat a little here, a little there. Then he had some digestive issues and I had to go to scheduled feedings. Now he scarfs food like he is starving. I am pretty new to this as well, so maybe call your vet and ask them about her belly being bloated?

| The bloating would concern me. Pet stores sell bowls with irregular patterns or shapes that are supposed to make the pup eat slower. I've also heard of people putting tennis balls, etc. in the bowl with the food...pup has to eat around them, so they slow down.

| Abby really goes at her food too! I think she is really filling out now. She is eating a rather large kibble so she has no choice but to crack each one. I am offering her food 4 times a day. 1/2 cup total per day. |

I am not too concern about the bloating because its like us humans; when we eat very fast we feel bloated and our belly is upset. (at least I do). but I didnt know about the dish and tomorrow I am going straight to the petstore to buy one! | |

| Poppy has always gobbled her food so fast without chewing. Sometimes she used to be sick with 5 minutes of eating bringing up whole batches of unchewed food. I bought her one of the bowls mentioned earlier with the rubber prongs in it and it has slowed her down by about half a minute, LOL! If your really worried that Bella will make herself ill why don't you hand feed her for a while, then you control how long she takes to eat. Ive also noticed that if I hand feed Poppy she crunches the food properly piece by piece so it may be worth a try.
