| Skin growth or blister like thing on throat Hi,my 14-1/2 year old rocky has some kind of skin growth or blister like thing on his throat under his chin - it does not seem to bother him at all and he is acting perfectly fine. I will take him on Saturday to have it looked at but I was just wondering if anyone's dog has had something similar. It is about the size of the bottom of my pinky finger. It's not hard like a wart. |

| Is there a dark whisker coming out of it? Teddy has a little bump on his chin where one big wiry hair grows from. The bump is not as big as my pinky, however.

| Strange bump/blister like thing No, it's sort of large and soft. I found another post of someone whose yorkie had something that looked similar on her yorkie's back but she did not post what it was. It's the size of it that bothers me. It doesn't seem to bother him at all and he is so old now I don't what to play around with it unless it's necessary. I've heard of fatty tumors but am not sure what they look like. |

| Could also be a benign cyst, with fluid. Definitely have your vet take a look, and let us know what the doc says.

| Strange bump/blister like thing I just hope he doesn't suck me in for hundreds of dollars for something that is not a major concern as it doesn't seem to bother Rocky at all. He just had his senior exam about 6 weeks ago and nothing was said about it then - perhaps it was smaller at that time or the doctor didn't think anything of it. I really can't recall if I mentioned it at all. I will have him take a look at a smaller one on his back too, although that one is black and seems to have gotten smaller and does not look the same as the one under his chin. It's hard to see them get old. |

| It should not be hundreds of dollars. Because your baby is older, it is even more important to have it checked.

| I agree; I'd take my baby to the vet for a little check-up. Levi had a growth on his leg last year that didn't bother him at all, but worried the heck out of me. It (thankfully!) was a pretty easy fix.

| Weird bump/blister thing on Rocky Thanks, all - I will have him checked on Saturday. He is to the point where he can hardly see or hear so I am hoping this is nothing major. He is very healthy overall but his only enjoyment in life at this point is food and his walks where he can sniff .............. |

| Our Twinkie had something like that. We had it recently removed. She had to go under, which made me a nervous wreck, but she came out fine. It was a benigh cyst. Thank goodness! Pam |

| Strange bump/blister like thing Hi, I really do not want to put my dog under anesthesia at his age. I hope that is not even suggested. It does not seem to bother him at all. |

| Benign Cyst Hi, Rocky's blister like thingie under his chin turned out to be a benign cyst - the vet drained it. He said it could come back was it was not anything to worry about. I am so relieved. It only cost $70. He also has a sebaceous cyst on his back which was enlarging but which I brought down with warm compresses. He is 14-1/2 and still going strong, despite the loss of his eyesight and hearing. Looks like he will be around for awhile longer! |
