| Puppy figure vs adult figure My sophie will be 1 next month. She currently weights a small looking 10 lbs but she still has her puppy figure...if that makes sense. Will she ever fill out? I recently found out...via vet skin scrapping...that she allergies...which is under control by medicine and diet. Could this even play a factor in it? I thank anyone that can help. I just feel she doesn't have much thickness to keep her warm outside during the cooler weather here. Especially since I had to have her cut down pretty short bc she has hairless on her legs but I do plan on getting her a winter coat. |

| My Teddy was a bony waif until his 2nd birthday. He finally started filling out, building muscle after age 2. Max started filling out earlier, right after age 1. Depends on the dog. I can't think of any way allergies would affect body shape/weight unless exercise or eating is impeded in some way. Don't be anxious to put weight on her by overfeeding. You may regret it later.

| Jackson stayed right at 12.5lbs from the age of 6 months-a little over one year. Then he went to 16lbs, probably around 1.3yrs old and he's stayed at that weight until now (almost 3yrs old). But he did not get fat, I think he just filled out and gained muscle mass.

| Jamie was very skinny at a year at maybe 7 lbs and then started filling out somewhere between 14 months to 2 years old. Again she is not chubby but very muscular and solid at about 9.5 to 10 pounds. |

| Thanks so much for the replies. I was just alittle worried. I recently got her hair cut off and now she just looks so tiny. I guess her hair made a big difference. I put food out for her so she can eat when she's hungry. I don't want her fat I guess more muscular would have been better to say. thanks again so much. |

YT 1000 Club Member | I did SO much research on this issue I was crosseyed ! Looked up charts and many articles on nutrition, searched databases for the best food (regardless of price) and probably found out TOO much. It wound up, that I put their food out for them 24/7, they eat regularly (on their own) twice a day, and occasionally snack. They are healthy, energetic and not overweight, and the best thing I did, was get out of their way, and let them alone. All I have to do is, a couple times a day, take a look at the bowls, and put a scoop in if necessary. There's always enough available for both to eat their fill IF and WHEN they want.
