| Advise needed....baby teeth Our little girl Gabby turned six months old on the fifth. She was missing two top baby teeth and now she is getting her permanent teeth and we seem to have more issues. She has a double set of three of the canines and two of the front baby teeth have gotten tighter instead of falling out. My vet told me to wait until she was eight months old to get her spay and then he would pull any baby teeth. This was before her canines came in at her rabies shot at 24 weeks. Should I go ahead and get her spay earlier to get those extra teeth removed? She never has been a very good eater and now it seems to be worse. I would like her to have a good bite and I am wondering if waiting will decrease that possiblity. I want to do the best I can. Thanks for any words of wisdom or experience you guys may have. I don't know if her mouth is hurting and we have many chew toys. |

| Hey, You are not too far from me. In fact i will be leaving to Couer d alene in a little but. We live in Pinehurst, ID Anyway, at the Vet clinic i work at we spay and neuter all the time at 6 months. And if you think the teeth are bothering her, i would for sure get her spayed now, and have the teeth pulled. I see no good reason to wait only two more months, unless she is too tiny. |

| at our clinic 2 lbs is the smallest they will go for a puppy, unless its an emergency, so your little girl should be perfectly safe. |

| My Maggie was just shy of 4 lbs when she was spayed. She did fine. Good luck with your baby's procedure.

| Yes, I would go ahead and schedule it! Sophie was 2.8 lbs when she was spayed and had her baby teeth removed with no problems! The biggest problem was that I was a nervous wreck until I had her back in my arms!!!

| My Fufu is 3.3 lbs and she did GREAT with her spay and teeth pulling. Some vets will do xrays of the mouth and then they can tell if they are baby teeth or adults and pull all puppy teeth. Others usually can tell so they can pull the babies too. Fufu had one tooth left that was a baby tooth and two weeks later it was super loose...I took her in and they just popped it out. It was just hanging there, but I cant handle teeth stuff like that to do it myself LOL

| Thanks for all the advise. I had a very unpleasant experience with a vet years ago and it has made me distrust more than I should (liver shunt-that they treated first for bad knee and then brain tumor-we lost our yorkie) I am always double checking and doubting. I have a different vet now. Although he probably thinks I am the most paranoid owner. I am planning the spay sooner rather than later. |
