I prefer recognizable ingredients, fresh food, etc., but that's not always possible or best. My dog kept losing weight on homecooked food probably because she couldn't break the protein source down. Now she eats soy. So my vegan dog is on a one or two star food, but at least she is alive.

I used to use dogfoodanalysis as my food reference "bible". However, the authors are not veterinary nutritionists. They aren't experts in the field. That is the opinion I look for first now...experts in the field.

I didn't realize dogs could eat soy. Interesting.

Feed em like family, you don’t eat the same thing meal after meal and neither should your pet, now you can add excitement to your mealtime without changing their basic boring diet.

It’s very misleading, dogs don’t get bored with their diets, this is a human trait. You say only 57 cents a day, that $17.00 a month if you used the whole pack. Not sure why you need to put something on his food, is it to entice him to eat? It would be much cheaper to add a few human foods to his diet. Green beans and other vegetables, (lol, I even give Joey a little corn off the cob), a little fresh, chicken occasionally etc. If a dog has a complete and balanced food, there's really no need to supplement it with something like this.

You could also use freeze dried raw, add some water to reconstitute it, and then mix that in. No need to consider refrigeration with that.

Yes, Jackson will not eat, he's been like this since a pup. He will go days without touching his kibble. But I don't mind adding wet food or other foods for him *shrugs* It may be humanizing him, but I enjoy seeing him enjoy his meals and I do think dogs enjoy variety and not eating the same thing day in and day out. It's just something I don't mind doing. It's not to supplement his diet or anything... though I do prefer canned food for it's lack of preservatives and I do think it's a healthier option than kibble but I can't feed my 16lb dog solely canned food -- $$$.

He won't eat veggies or fruits, lol. The only way he will eat green beans is if they were cooking in the crock pot with roast beef or something. He's definitely full on carnivore, haha.

But yes, I think I'm going to end making chicken and just keeping it in the fridge and using that to mix in to his kibble. Currently, he gets a variety of canned foods, Nature's Variety, TOTW and Natural Balance more so than others.
