Senior Yorkie Talker | Thickness of Fur?? Hello, ever since my Millie was tiny shes alway had very thin fur, even the vets and groomers commented on it. I see pictures of everyone elses yorkie when babies and grown up and they seem to look very fluffy and their coats look full but Millies is very thin and not much to it. When she was in the process of changing coats from puppy to adult (shes now a year and a half old) the fur on her head was bearly there and she looked bald apart from a few wisps of fur that looked like a baby birds feathers! not too sure if this is normal or shes just extra special, im not worried about it too much as shes happy, healthy and as naughty as ever but i was just wondering about it. help and advice on how to maybe help thicken it up would be much appriciated!! x x

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Did she have thinner fur when she was a puppy too? If yes, it's just probably her genetics. If no, has her skin been closely inspected for ringworm? In dogs, ringworm doesn't appear as a ring, but more like a splotchy, odd little patch w/ hair loss. Marcel caught ringworm from his old vet when he was younger. Not uncommon.

Senior Yorkie Talker | no shes always had thin fur, when she was a puppy her head looked like a baby bird when its feathers are abit thin and whispy bless her, all other yorkies ive seen have always had thicker fur than my Mill's. Prehaps my baby girl is just extra special to me then (as i knew she always had been!)

| My baby girl has the same fur, very thin. She has always had this fur and she is now 1 yr old. She also has very dry skin so I wondered if that was culprit. She has been on all foods from Primal raw to Solid Gold Wee Bits kibble. I have used fish oil on her food, given her grain-free and grain-filled (lil' over-exaggeration Overall, I think it's genetics. If I keep it a little longer it doesn't look as thin. But she is who she is and I lover her for it

Senior Yorkie Talker | yeah i think it must be genetics, unfortunately we were never put in touch with any of her litter brothers to see how they turned out but she is perfect in every other way. i dont think shes got dry skin, her coat is very shiny and soft and is healthy and is quite long at the moment but shes due for a cut (teddy bear cut) in two weeks time. thanks for the feed back, glad to know my lil girl isnt the only one
