| Probotics Question I have read where many of you use a tablespoon or so of yogurt or cottage cheese on kibble and they benefit from the "probotics". My question is...what are the benefits? My little Coby sometimes vomits yellow foamy bile in the am if he hasnt eaten anything. Sometimes he just will not eat first thing in the am, no matter how much I try to entice him. He is very healthy and thriving otherwise. I was wondering if the probotics would help with this? I do try and offer him at least a small handful of kibble right before bedtime and this has helped somewhat. Thanks in advance! I absolutely LOVE this site!!!!! | Probiotics may aid in digestion and help keep the balance of good/bad bacteria in the digestive track. Probiotics probably will not help with curbing the problem of vomiting bile in the morning. Teddy had that problem when he was younger. He is a little waif with a very fast metabolism. I fixed the problem doing exactly what you are doing -- feeding a few kibble before bedtime. We would do trick training and the kibble were the rewards. How many hours between your pup's bedtime and morning? I think Teddy never went more than 6 hours without food. We still maintain a 3 meals per day schedule and I think that helps too. If your pup won't eat kibble in the morning, you could try giving him half a teaspoon to a teaspoon of yogurt to entice him. Anything to get something in his belly right away.

| I don't believe that dogs benefit from the probiotics in yogurt.... it doesn't contain enough to have an effect... I use Nature's Farmacy - Store - Product Details= It increases the appetite and can help avoid bouts of diarrhea, prevents bad bacteria from taking over in the gut.

| I think Coby is very hungry in the morning. Cooper used to vomit bile once in a while in the mornings. A little "midnight" snack did the trick. Maybe you could give Coby a little treat right before bed?

| My little Coby sometimes vomits yellow foamy bile in the am if he hasnt eaten anything. I have a 9yr old poodle that has done this all of his life. We make sure that he get SOMETHING in his tummy just before bed, kibble, canned food, crackers, toast, cheerios,,,,, something. Then his morning routine is outside to potty and inside for breakfast. If we cannt feed him his kibble first thing then he gets a bite of someones egg or toast to get something in his tummy. This has worked fine for us for many years. Good luck. |
