| I need advice! Two things: 1) my girls are both plagued with hard stools...the little sister more so than the older one. I have been feeding grain-free foods--Fromm's Beef Frittata Veg and TOTW Pacific Stream. They both seem to prefer the smaller kibble but I do see the younger one eating the Pacific Stream some as well. They get a small spoonful of Cesar Chicken & Beef puppy food twice a day and the kibble is out at all times. I need to know what I can give them to make their bowel movements a little easier since they seem to have some problems with constipation. The little one has several movements each day but mostly tiny little hard pieces. 2) also, I always gave them a piece of the Waggin Train dried chicken strips when I leave to go somewhere. I have heard pros and cons on these and since my girls are so small (3 to 3.8 lbs.), I stopped giving these for fear they might choke or get a blockage from them. I don't know what to give in place now and my 3-yr. old still anticipates getting it when I leave. I used it to deal with her separation anxiety when she was younger. Thanks for your help! |

| Hello! You need to add some fiber to your kiddos diet- while these grain free foods are great and everyone always talks about the small very firm poops as a positive things, it isn't always a great thing- it can lead to painful bowel movements for the dogs and anal gland issues- you can try adding a spoonful of plain canned pumpkin to their meals, or even some green beans, or adding more canned food at each meal could help also. It will be a little bit of trial and error to see what works for your kids. I personally don't like to give any kind of chew when I leave the house, a blockage could happen with almost anything and you won't be there to do anything about it. I also give mine a treat as soon as I leave- I use something very tiny that is eaten before I even shut the door. If your kids need something longer lasting to keep them entertained, consider using a kong, it can be stuffed with peanut butter, yogurt, etc. and even frozen to make it last longer but there won't be a risk of choking.

| I'm no expert, but I try to give mine veggies. I steam up a couple of days worth of carrot slices and keep them in the fridge. this way on hot days, they get a cool treat. I also try to make them drink water each time we come in from a walk. I will tell them to "drink or get some water" and they usually will drink a couple of laps. lol I also give them sweet potatos. I have the dried ones that i get at petsmart or if I have baked for dinner, I will cut up some pieces and refrigerate for a couple days. good luck.

| I have Teddie on grain free and noticed he was having issues with harder stools. I now give him fruit to help and it has worked. He has strawberries, blueberries, and watermelon (no seeds). I freeze it and give him a piece at a time, he usually gets several in a day, and he loves it. He also likes the baby carrots (organic) that I can buy in the stores and I steam fresh cut green beans for him. He prefers these "treats" to any store bought kind now. He evern has bits of apple chunks (a new fave) with the skin on...just make sure no seeds as they contain cyanide. Good luck with your Angels!!

| I've given them both ways but mine seem to like frozen better. And they love frozen green beans!

| What happens if they eat whole apples??? We have an apple tree and its n full bloom right now... As much as we are always picking up, its impossible to watch it 24/7 and my lil guys get a hold of several daily and eat the whole thing... They havent had any problems (yet) is it possible they could? We take them away as we see them but sometimes they slip by us... When I catch them I will take it away and slice it up for them. |

| That is great! My older yorkie, Abby is a meat eater and doesn't hold veggies or fruits in high esteem but the younger, Gidget, prizes anything that she can eat. |

| I leave them frozen, that way it takes him a few minutes to gnaw them down. It's kinda funny to listen to him munch noisely on a strawberry.

| OK, got each girl a small Kong and bought the bacon/cheese squeeze can to spray a treat inside and they loved it! Left them to visit with friends and they were so excited as they always go crazy when they smell cheese! I think this will work! And the little one, Gidget enjoyed frozen strawberries, green beans, and carrots earlier. Thx everyone for your suggestions! |
