| Yorkie with Trachea issues Hi everyone. I am new to the YorkieTalk.com site and if anyone out there can help me I would appreciate it. I have a beautiful yorkie who is 5 years old and his trachea is collapsing. We have treated the condition with lomotal and then some steriods but it is progressively getting worse. His surgeon suggests inserting a stent to allievate his breathing problem. Has anyone experienced this with their yorkie and if so, did the dog get the surgery? If yes, how was the dog after the surgery, etc. Please, I love this dog so much and I am torn between getting the surgery done and just maintaining his breathing on meds. Thanks, mahmeesbaby |

| Welcome! I am so sorry to hear you are experiencing this. My little Cricket had CT but never needed steroids or surgery. You might want to start a new thread in the Sick and Injured section. You might be able to get more replies. I know there are some ppl on the site who have gone through more in depth CT treatment. I wish you well and hope you find the help for the little one you need.

| Im sorry to hear this... My Chihuahua had this as well... By the time we found out, it was too late for surgery. He also had an enlarged heart... He was put on meds for that in hopes it would have helped the CT... I dont know if it did, my husband never took him back for his re~check. I would have done it tho,,, if given the choice,,, he was my lil guy that I loved so much... Good luck |

| Hi... Sorry to hear about your baby. My foster dog Cupid had a stent put in a year ago this month...he still has his moments with coughing...but before the stent he was not able to breathe anymore....it was his only last option as medication was not working. You can read his story at Yorkies Inc. Placement Service he is our forever foster. There are also two Yahoo CT groups that I joined for more information...

| My beloved Prince had a collapsing trachea. He did not have the surgery because of where his trachea collapsed...the vet said that he probably wouldn't make it thru the surgery. Prince's case was severe. He lived with it for about a year and a half. I am so sorry that your baby has this horrible disease. My prayers go out to him.
