| Bordatella Vaccination...shot or nose drops? Ian's vet said that the nose drops are back-ordered, so he will have to get the shot. He's going to camp during Father's Day weekend, and has to have it. Which do you think is best?

| I think (in my limited experience) that the nose drops can be irritating, and they're only good for 6 months, while the shot is good for a year. Of course, neither one is perfect and they don't offer protection from all strains, but you don't have much choice if you need to board send them to a groomer.

| I prefer Bordetella vaccine...I have heard and read that alot of dogs have bad reactions to the nasal spray and plus the vaccine is good for a year and the nasal you have to have done every 6 mos.

| I've heard the nasal one isn't good....but we don't do any shots anymore except for Rabies because it's required.

| MIne only get the injections, as I have one that has horrible experiences with the nasal, which I think is the reason for her chronic nasal problems now.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Could you explain why? My vet recommended internasal, but I forget why. Sounds like most here are going with injections. He didn't say it was only good for 6 months.

| Mine have always had a problem with the nasal spray. I had them put on each one of their charts to always give the shot. Then, no problems. |

| Here is an interesting take ... basically they conclude that the first vaccine should be nasal, and boosters should be injectable: Nasal or Injectable - Which Vaccine is Best for Your Dog? - Page 1

There are less reactions to the intranasal, no pain of a shot, and it offers protection faster than the injection. Here is an article on the topic that sums it up. Kennel Cough (Infectious Tracheobronchitis) in Dogs

| Levi gets the injection...my vet did not recommend the intranasal for him, and now I forget why. I am curious about the pros and cons of the intranasal versus injection. The shot has always worked for us.
