| I think it's very important to know what the newer research is saying, but also understand that we still can't say with absolute certainty that a dog is fully protected against viruses if vaccinated at one year and never again. I do not believe in and will always object to annual vaccines (for MLV). When recommending a schedule, I tell people to go with the AAHA. It's a compromise, but it's also a way to not undervaccine. But for my own dog, I do not follow AAHA. I'm somewhere in between the AAHA approach and the minimalist approach based on what I have read. Ellie spends some time at a vet hospital and I am pretty confident that she is protected even around dogs with parvo or distemper having been there... Her distemper titer is chronically low and that does make me nervous. But titers are questionable at best to try and figure out if vaccines are needed. We have stopped doing them.
