| If you go to the health/diet forum, there are TONS of really good threads about this very subject. Usually it's a matter of opinion which food is best, and it's usually the yorkie's opinion that matters most. lol.

| I use Instinct for Rosie. It costs me about $15 a bag but she really don't eat much. So, the bag lasts me a while. I use the Chicken. She really likes it and we don't have any problems on it. Good luck on your search. I have been there and it is not an easy one.

| I had this same question not very long ago....alot of the folks here use Taste of the Wild and encouraged me to try it. My yorkie loves it and he is really picky. It's a grain free 5 star food. Comes in four flavors... So far all we have tried is the fowl. Good luck on your search!

The best food for my kiddos is something with quality ingredients, no fillers, no byproducts, and a moderate level of protein. I have had good success with Nature's Variety, Natural Balance, and Go!

| I feed Gatsby Taste of the Wild and he loves it and it is a great food. I went through the list of dog foods and this was the only one he would eat and have okay poops with.

| Me too . It's one of the better brands and Sophie loves it, even in her kong as a treat.

| I have had great luck with Nature's Variety. We use mostly the Nature's Variety Prairie chicken meal and brown rice formula. It agrees well with my dogs and the kibble is small and easy for them to eat. It is an all life stages food and my last 2 dogs have been eating this since we brought them home as puppies and they have done very well. |

| You want to see a specific meat as the very first ingredient (not just "meat meal"). Make sure there's no corn or corn gluten or corn meal. If it has grains you want them to be WHOLE grains. Also look for some fruits and veggies in there (I always do anyway) and plenty of vitamins and minerals. As far as one that's affordable, usually the "grain free" ones are more expensive and you don't necessarily have to go that route. Certain brands tend to be more costly too if they do a ton of advertising and fancy packaging (such as Blue Buffalo - great food but I think it's priced way too high because of all the advertising). The ones that I found that tend to be more reasonably priced are Verus, Nature's Variety Prairie, Evenger's...there's many more but you'll have to explore and compare. Like others have said though, if you have a picky eater, sometimes they choose for you. I'd look through the "natural" section at your local Petco and read labels and compair prices. You will pay more for better quality ingredients, but Yorkie's don't eat much and you feed less of a better food anyway, so cost tends to balances out.

| Sasha has done extremely well on Blue Buffalo Wilderness. It's their grain-free line and Sasha does wonderful on this food. I've used Acana in the past and love their company as well, but after some time I noticed that Sasha's appetite changed once she was fully switched to it, to the point where she wasn't eating all of her meals. I have since changed her back to the Wilderness and shes gone back to normal. Wilderness just works for her! |
