| Paw Licking Hello, My Chloe has been licking her right front paw for about a month now. She hasn't broke the skin....yet. I have had the groomer cut down the hair in the area to inspect it, and it looks fine. I have also used the apple bitter spray to prevent the licking, but it doesn't stop her. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help. |

most will say that it could be allergies and I do agree with this for the most part but my toy poodle has been doing this since she was about 5 months old and she is 3, we have tried numerous things as in changing foods, giving her benedryl, talked to the vet about it etc and nothing has helped. She doesnt get sore or anything she just licks. I started to notice that she would do it right before she would go to sleep so for her I do beleive its a comfort thing that became a habit. I certainly would look into seeing if she may be allgeric to something in her food or her enviroment first and talk to your vet but it may just be a habit.

| I thought she might have an allergy too, but wouldn't she be licking more than one foot? Has anyone tried Tabasco? |

| My Max has dry, cracked paws and I recently woke up to him licking them at night. I had no idea he did this. For him, I don't think it's an allergy as much as it is a comfort/habitual thing. He does sometimes wear little soft booties to protect his paws.

| usually it's allergies, but last time Bentley went to the vet for paw licking it was demodex mites so it's always a good thing to try a skin scrape just to be safe. |

YT 2000 Club Member | Yeah I would agree.. Im not sure why anyone would do that. Lexee does lick both of her's but its just the tips buy her nails, she doesnt ever chew on them or does she lick her pads, so I really believe it is a habit for her.

Yorkie Talker | I have a hard time getting Moe to wear shoes. Especially when we are out on a pack walk - there might be bits of broken glass, or nails, or thorns. But we really have to s-t-r-u-g-g-l-e each time it's shoe time. He is ok with disposable diapers and shirts, and collars. But when it comes to shoes, he SHUTS! Help |
