| I have water available all day to mine- I don't like withholding water and when I discussed it with my vet at one point because we were having pee pee problems they advised against it. Mine have water 24/7- Chloe did drink way too much at the beginning, she would literally drink the whole bowl- the vet was actually so concerned about this we had to rule out some medical causes for this. I just watched her closely and if I thought she was at the water dish too long I would redirect her to something else and eventually she grew out of it.

I am a totally new mommy to two little brothers and I am trying to get as much good info as I can but it seems that no one really agrees with anything so I am very conflicted on what to do....they are 9 weeks old and I got them last week I have been feeding them twice a day and giving them water with there meals only cause I read that when you are potty training that it is good so that they can be monitored better I have been crate training them and they have been doing very well all day but at night they pee and poop in the crate so I am thinking that maybe it would be a good idea to buy one of those xpens for them to go in instead idk anyone with any good info please help thanx Scooby and Scrappys moommy

Food and water 24/7 here (potty pad trained). I change the water every morning. I even put crushed ice in the water, they like it cold.

Tibbe has 24/7 access to his food and water as have all of my dogs over the years and knock-on-wood, hasn't caused any problems. My son's dog on the other hand would eat every bowl of food offered until he was sick, I think. If I had one of those dogs, I would have to feed him on a schedule.

LOL! Tibbe gets very anxious when his water or food bowl gets lower than he thinks is right and will come and stand before me, focusing like a laser with his eyes on me and he just won't move or be deterred until I "get it". Once I have filled his bowls to the brim, he is once again happy. This boy keeps me on the straight and narrow the way he checks his supplies!
