| i can't believe this topic is here. i've been off the site for a couple years but came back last week to see if other moms have had all the stomach/gastic issues i've had with Dexter over the last 6 years. I've only fed him RC kibble and then whenever he ended up hospitalized with severe gastritis or HGE the vet would always have me feed him medical gastro canned - he would only put up with this for a few days and then i'd offer the rc and he would eat again....a few months later he would have another awful episode ...stomach squeally noises/pain/vomit and eventually end up at the hospital (usually in middle of night!). I just thought this week about changing him from RC to wellness because there is no grain in that food and although my vet doesn't seem to think its his diet, its HAS to be! Any help out there? He just came back again from hospital and has an amazing appetite again - still eating the gastro, but i know he will turn off it any day... |

| I use to feed this food By Nature. WHen I first brought Suzi home they were feeing he purina. I knew that it was not a good kibble. She was eating fine, but, I thought she needed to put on a pound or 2, my opinion. The vet said she was at a perfect weight at 7Lbs. But I wanted her to look betterand healthier. I started her on Wellness a couple years ago and she and my shih Tzu love it. We have had no problems at all with the super 5 mix, small breed. Thing is with wellness, you have to by either a small bag, or a very big one. The smaller bag of kibble did not las even a month for 2 dogs, so I buy a big bag, that costs nearly $30 , but it is ok, most of the bag is either half gone or 75% eaten each month. I do free feed them and they are not fat , at a good weight and look very healthy, and full of energy.

| well, its been a few days now and i've been gradually mixing the Wellness small breed kibble into his Medi-cal gastro food and he's been gobbling it up! His stools are good/regular and he is CRAZY to eat (which is so unusual for him -it's a delight to see). So far so good with the Wellness...i expect to have him eating it solely by mid next week. It has no meat by-products, no grain, no preservatives...I hope this is the answer to his life long gastric problems ![]() Thanks everyone for your input. |

| I just started switching Kody over to Wellness as well - will mix with RC over the next 7 days gradually increasing the amount of Wellness. He loves it ... I'm so happy - so far so good with the transition.

| So far so good here on Wellness kibble. Trixie seems to be pooping more on the pads too so maybe it is a little easier and she doesn't have to do her "poop walk" anymore.

| Harley had terrible issues with RC, so I'm a vote for switching. plus RC is sooo much more expensive.
