| Need help My Yorkie is 2 years old and the past 2 weeks, he has been itching terribly. He is scratching so much, I am finding hair everywhere and it is getting alot of knots in it. I told the groomer to use something for dry skin but it is not helping at all. I have not used a supplement yet, but can someone tell me something to give him some relief now? Also, he has a long coat, should I cut it short for awhile? Will that help at all. I feel sorry for him trying to brush all these knots out. I do brush him frequently trying to prevent this problem. |

| What does your vet say? That's the first place to start.

| It could be several things.... demodex mange Sarcoptic mange Environmental allergies Food allergies Have you switched food lately? Have you used the same food for an extended period of time? Are you feeding high quality food? Most commercial dog foods contain corn..which is a common allergen for dogs. Have you changed shampoos? Detergents? Like mentioned earlier...it could be several things but but only a Vet will know for sure.. If this has been going on for 2 weeks...your baby has to be absolutely miserable...please get him to the Vet so he can get some relief asap. In the meantime you can give him 1 mg per pound of Benadryl to make him a little more comfortable until you see the Vet. (If he's 7 lbs..give him 7 mgs.) up to 3 X's a day. Please keep us posted on how he's doing.
