| I use it with my 4, also brush their teeth with it and use it on their coats and booboos. I add about 0.5-1.0 mL per meal, depending on their coat condition. I also clean ears with it.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | What is a booboo? Is that a yorkie bootie ? Do you mean you use it, say, if the The Dingle Monster visits? I would never have thought of that, but what a good idea.

well when my kids were smaller (like around 2ish) we used to call booboos when they got hurt, so Im gonna assume she means sores or cuts, something like that, but of course I could be wrong.

YT 2000 Club Member | didnt do much coat wise for my dogs but made them greasy. I have used it for their ears before though and that worked out good. I myself use it on super dry skin, cuts, etc and it works great. I just wish it worked better for my dogs.

It is a natural antibacterial and antifungal, and can remove plaque... The company I buy the oil from makes a coconut oil toothpaste for people... also I had a horrible toothache last month and put some CO on it, it stopprd the throbbing pain better than Orajel... took longer though but it doesn't make your whole mouth numb... plus whatever caused it healed up.. (I bit down wrong and loosened the tooth). Now I just put a drop or two on top of my regular toothpaste... Quote:
I also apply it topically to their coats when I comb them out, esp to the ends... really helps and after a day or two the oil is either absorbed or rubbed off on the rug and furniture.... (JK) One of mine had some kind of flakey skin issue going on... it cleared up in less than a month... she also had a chronic ear thing happening... now that's just about gone (tried meds from the vet first but it came right back). Now we're down to a once weekly cleaning with the CO and she appears to be doing fine. She's comfortable, not itching, and hardly any debris coming out of her ears at all.... and smells better. I especially like to use it after plucking the ear hair out... I think it's soothing afterwards.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I am such a dork! Geezh, self, duh! I don't know why I thought it was yorkie-butt thing, lol! I think I was thinking how Mardelin once said she called her kiddos backsides "po-po's"....(maybe I even have that word wrong)....and so I think I was thinking of the buttskies. Wow. Major brain lapse.

| I really like extra virgin coconut oil. I give it to Daisy when she is dry and it seems to help her Inflammatory Bowel Disease symptoms when she flares. I just buy a jar at whole foods and use that and give a little on her food. I have not run it though their coats as KJC mentioned but I have used coconut oil on my own hair and it really helps when it dries out in the winter.

| I've been giving it to my two for the past few months and it seems to have really helped, especially my little girl. Her skin isn't nearly as dry and flaky and itchy looking as it was. Plus they love the taste. they're due for their baths so I may try a little on their hair before I try to comb them out. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Lol. It is yet another cardinal sign of The Armageddon that starts in the brain after 40. I mean, I really did ask "what is a booboo?". What the...?

Back on topic...I use Nutiva all-natural coconut oil from the Vitamin Shoppe on booboos. Teddy had some mysterious bug bites on his chest last summer and the coconut oil cleared them up right away.
