| Has there ever been a connection with the type/brand of food they eat? I've wondered if there was a common ingredient in some foods that may be the attraction to some dogs. |

No Longer a Member | I bought a female yorkie from some people because of this very thing, she ate her poop all the time they said. Well i got her and from what I found she was just hungry. As soon as she came here and after 2 days of getting what she wanted to eat she stopped and never ate her poop again. I keep Royal canin dry food out all the time and they get Ceasar wet dog food anytime they want it and sometimes raw chicken , they love raw chicken. My dogs are not overweight and have never had any illnesses. i think sometimes people get carried away with the text book readings and just dont feed their dogs enough. I learned this thru breeding and raising field trial Brittanys for 15 years, they would eat their poop if not fed enough of the right foods. |

| I free feed TJ and Roxy. They are on special Vet food - IVD - Duck and Potato. They love it. I give them some of this brand/flavor of the wet food in the AM. They eat some dry in the AM and some in the afternoon, but they really go to town on the dry food late at night. They get the IVD treats before I leave and at night. I also feed them a little of the wet at night too. They get raw fresh string beans and baby spinach sometimes too. That's all I can give them and they DO get PLENTY of it. So, I don't think mine do it because they are hungry. Frankly, they could eat a whole can of wet and a whole bowl of dry, a whole bag of treats and then poop and eat that too!!! For some reason they like - TJ especialy. I am really running out of ideas. I do want to try the brewers yeast. BUT, it might also be a behavioral issue. TJ likes to poop in private and he is in constant competion with Roxy, I wonder if he likes to poop in private and then quickly eat it before Roxy can get to it and now it has just become routine for him??? |

No Longer a Member | If it is a habit and competition then you have to somehow break the cycle. Do you let them have free run of the house or are they in a closed in area? Do they go outside to use the bathroom or use puppy pads? |

Well this is definitely not the case at my house- I have 6 Yorkies -1 Poop eater ( 7 mo old female Sophie) and they all get the same food and there is always food and water down for my dogs . She is the only one that exhibited this kind of behavior. I used Deter - it works BUT you have to double the dose ( just like it says on the box) for the first week for it to have an effect. I first started out with reg dose and no effect so I doubled and it stopped her. Now I just give her a 1/2 tablet a day. She loves it and that makes it easy as she sits wanting me to get it out of the pantry.

| TJ and Roxy are contained when no one is home and they are in their crate during the night. They are litter box wee wee pad trained. I found these treats online: One Earth Natural Treats (Brewers Yeast / Garlic) I am going to order them and I hope they work! If not, I have the deter so maybe I will try giving them a whole pill. The last time I tried it, I was only giving them 1/2 pill. I just want it to stop!!!!! |

| I've heard to put meat tenderizer in the food of the dog that is having their poo eaten. It's supposed to make it taste bad. |
