Hi Everyone,

My 1 year old Yorkie has a red bumpy rash, it sort of looks like dry skin. I haven't changed her shampoo (which is oatmeal based). Since I got her. I recently did change her food in the past month her behavior is normal, and she is going to the vet for a check up in 2 weeks. Do you think I need to take her in ASAP?

I have read this is somewhat common, perhaps an allergy or staph? Any advice?

And also, it might be a food allergy, but can't be sure since I'm not a vet nor can I see it. I only say this because you said you changed food. However, it could be a skin infection too. I would recommend a vet visit if you think it is causing pain/see it getting worse.

Hopefully someone else will have some better advice!

Pook,my yorkie was going through a same kind of rash/skin condition. Id taken her to the vet on several occasions,but he only gave me a peroxide shampoo to bath her in. It helped but her skin never cleared up. I read that adding about a tsp of ACV to her water(about a cup),and I put a tsp of EVOO on her food,and her skin is in perfect condition now. Her hair is growing,shiny and her eyes arent tearing up anymore. You can also use a mixture of ACV and water and use it directly on her skin. Earthclinic.com has helpful info about it. Hope your baby feels better.

My 20month old,Spartacus, is a wire coat Yorkie and over the last 6 months his skin is really itchy and his coat is even more brittle than usual. I had changed his food prior to the change so I've changed it back but symptoms persist. Two vets have said he's fine. We've been through every brand of oatmeal shampoo and a prescription shampoo. I'm hoping that your trick works, but I don't know what ACV is. I'm also assuming EVOO is regular kitchen extra virgin olive oil.? Right? Thanks SOOO much for sharing your tips!!!

ACV is apple cider vinegar I presume.

That is what ACV has stood for in other threads I've read, so I assume that you are correct and that it is the same here.
