| Average Yorkie weight My yorkie weighs only 3 lbs and she turned 2 on September. I take her to the vet every 6 months now for her shots. is it normal for her to weight very little, I've been seen online that the average weight is between 5-7 lbs , she eats 3 times a day.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Some yorkies are smaller than average. Mine happen to be big ones ( 7 1/2 and 10 pounds). You say you take her to the vet every 6 months for shots. Why? Are you dividing her shots so she isn't getting the rabies with her other vaccinations?

| I was told by the vet , since she is so small , my yorkie might have side reactions if too many shots are given at the same time ( like the rabies one combined with other ones).

| I would say the average size of a well bred Yorkie is 4-7 lbs. And yes, I would be extremely wary of giving more than one vaccine at once. I would suggest having them administered at separate times for even larger dogs, much less such a small one. |

| Stuart went to the Vet this morning for his last set of vaccinations, he's 4 months, and he's already weighing in at 7.7lbs!! just a little monster!! He's 3x the size of his sister! I guess you can never tell how big they're going to be!

| My girl Rio and boy Bullet are both 3 lbs. They actually look quite different in size, as Rio has a longer body and short legs and Bullet stands taller at the shoulders but has a shorter body. So Bullet actually looks bigger than Rio but they weigh the same. They are on the smaller side of the size spectrum, but they're healthy as a horse. You should definitely split up their vaccinations, maybe a week between. My vet actually gives an antihistamine shot 20 mins before giving the vaccines because Rio did have a reaction last year. | I have a customer at work (I work at a pet store) who comes in frequently and has 3 yorkies. Two are about 8-10lbs and then one is about 3lbs. He's a year old and just...didn't grow. She's not the type to go OMGTEACUP either, so I know she didn't get him because he'd be tiny. I think some just don't grow as much as others, maybe? Either way, I'd be weary of giving multiple vaccinations at once, like your vet said.

| An important factor in my dog choice was size. Since I wanted a small dog, 4-7 pounds seemed just right. Dinky is 10 months old and is only 3 and 1/4 lbs, and who knows if he will make it to 4. His sister was a pound larger, but we liked his calm, timid temperament. Part of his cuteness is his small size. Happily, he's very sturdy, probably because we walk him about 1 and one half mile every night. We will most likely get another dog in about a year, and I really don't mind if he or she is small or very small. Tempermant is the key for me! |

| Ours range between 5-9 pounds. A friend of ours had one that was barely 3 pnds.....she grabbed hold of a squirrels tail once and got drug all over the yard and about a foot up the side of a tree!!!! Once we determined she was okay, then we burst into laughter, but we were nervous when she fell (that small they are so fragile). Just depends on the Yorkie! She was 18 when she passed away and never got over 3 pnds.

| We have split maxines shots up at the vets suggestion, and so far, after almost 14 years, no shot problems. She is a tubby 7 1/2 pounds, shot legs, does not eat a lot, and always has had a nice round belly. Genetics. No where near a well breed show dog, but she has personality and charm! |

| In the state of rhode island , she only needs her rabies shot every two years but all other ones very 6 months. But I was also told some shots are not need it . I don't have the list near by to list the ones that the vet said she does need.
