allergies /illness pee etc can any one advise Hi, Glad to have found you all. Alfie is 5 for the last 4 years he has been treated for severe allergies. He is now on suppressant drugs NEORAL used for people who have organ transplants. With the medicine he survives, we also give him twice weekly baths monthly antibiotic shots,& daily lotion applied to his sores. The NEORAL is affecting the liver but with out Neoral he will have to be put down. His two back legs have finally gone due to the classic knee problem ( rotoule in french) he now has arthritis as well and is finding walking harder and harder; the Neoral also makes him pee and he has started peeing every where , this is new and i am at my wits end. i clean up the pee with vinegar as i am told this will alert him to pee else- where. i leave a pee-pee mat at the door so he always has that option. He used to use the mat but now???? I don't know if it is just that is has got into lazy habits or if he can not stop the pee just coming . he is the kindest sweetest gentle dog you can imagine, and such a love to us so we carry on the ultra expensive treatment, i think i work to pay for it but what can you do? Any advice for me??

| Hi. I'm sure someone will be on here shortly to give you the proper advice. I do not have any for you, but I commend you for the love and attention that you have given your beloved pet. Alfie is very, very lucky to have you to take care of him.

thank you for messages hello, i am not very computer wise and had a lovely reply from one of you about food etc so thank you , Alfie has a special diet, so i can't help him more there but the camomile wash sounds great and i will certainly try that!! It is nice to know that there is a caring community out there, sometimes one feels so alone dealing with these issues. especially as the attitude from most people is just 'oh it's only a dog, better to shoot it' even when made in jest it still gets to you!!

Thank you, he eats hypo-allergenic organic food from the vets. we had skin tests taken which show that the allergies are to pollens mite and mould. We give him the hypo allergic food just to help the digestion. I think some people just don't understand how much you can love a dog and yorkies are so fun and loveable !! Thanks for all your kind words, i feel so much better having found people who love their dogs as much as i do !!!( actually i am not even an animal person a real wimp with big dogs terrified of cats but Alfie has really filled a place in our family, funny really !!) When we bought him( he was 12 weeks old ) , we had been to see him at least 4 times, but actually the Alfie we brought home was not our chosen pup. Alfie came up to us and sat on my husbands lap and refused to get down and then got in our carry basket, it was like he had chosen us. i felt really weird as i was sure it was not our dog,the dog we had been visiting ( ok we did not have much experience) the seller said nothing, and i was in two minds to take him back when the seller came clean. He broke his front leg at 2months old and has a metal pin in that, i should have known then that he was fragile. He was sold to us as a 1.8 kilo dog but weighs in at 3k.9oog. his parents are cup winners, Both are half the size of alfie, i have heard that the Yorky company where we bought him has had bad press. i found out too late. i paid 1800 euros for him and waited 2 years to get the dog i wanted .hey ?? I guess he is the dog i wanted i just wish for him he did not have to suffer.

Don't really have any good advice other than I wish you guys all the best. I know it is a very hard road. I have a 13 year old pek that has allergies also. We never really found anything that would help her either. One medication almost killed her. She takes a steroid pill every day, which is super bad for her, but it is keeping her from being hairless and full of sores. At several points of her life, she had little hair and was full of sores. We dressed her in shirts to keep her from scratching so much. She soon will be gone; she's had a hard life. One thing to remember though...keep those nails clipped. Good luck and we're sending hugs and kisses for you and your baby.
