| Some questions about my boy Knox Knox is 9 months old now! I can't believe it, they grow so fast I had him fixed a few months ago, but now that his big teeth are in I notice he still has two baby teeth I am wondering how long I should 'hope' they fall out before having them taken out? Also I know he can bark because I have heard him once or twice, but he NEVER does.....I mean NEVER??? It seems so odd to me, should I be worried? Also he is just now barely 3 pounds. I am still free feeding him just because he is so small. Should I continue to leave his food available all day or start feeding him at certain times? I can't decide On a good note I love my baby Knox more than anything and he loves to go everywhere with me. I can't believe how well behaved he always is. I am one lucky yorkie Mommy He has even learned a few tricks...yay Knox!

| At 3 lbs, you should continue to free feed. Tiny ones cant go for too long without eating. Both my Rio (19 months) and Bullet (8 mos) are 3 lbs and I free feed. The only time free feeding gets tricky is if you're still potty training your pup because it makes it harder to time when they have to "go." As for the barking, consider yourself lucky! LOL! | He is sooo cute. My Sophie turned 7 months yesterday. She has already been spayed and has 4 baby teeth still in...those 4 sharp canines. I'm sure I'll have to have them pulled. They aren't loose at all. Surely if his were going to come out, they would before 9 months. I see a vet trip in your future.

| My little guy is 8 months old and 2.5 lbs. We are still in the midst of housebreaking - so I only put the food out in the morning and in the evening. I do not leave it out all day. We just came back from the vet today because he had to have 11 baby teeth pulled. It didn't look like they were going to come out on their own and his breath was real bad. I was worried about the anesthesia - but he did good. When I picked him up - he acted normal - as if nothing even happened. As for the barking - consider yourself lucky. We have a 5 yr old yorkie also who never barks - but the little guy - OMG - he wants everyone to know he's around. |

| My Charm is 5 months she is 2.12 lbs and I free feed her. I have to feed her separately from my other 3 who are on 2 meals a day. It works out because she's so little she walks right through the baby gate to get to her dish. Charm just got her last two baby teeth a month ago so I know she'll have to have them pulled out. She was very late getting her baby teeth. My vet says she is delayed and wants to wait a while before spaying her to see if she'll grow a bit more and to see what will happen with her teeth. |

| ! What a cutie he is! If it doesn't interfere with potty training, I would recommend free-feeding him, too, because of his small size. I have one that doesn't bark very much, either. She can actually go all day without any barking, but sometimes she wants to remind me that she can bark. She's pretty calm and not really hyper. You've probably socialized him well and I'd say that is why he isn't much of a barker, plus it is probably just his personality. It's beyond me why the vet didn't remove any baby teeth when he was neutered. I think they should have, because you don't want to anesthetize them more than absolutely necessary.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | At this age and weight I would continue to free feed Knox, btw...he's adorable! By now his puppy teeth should have fallen out, you might want to check with your vet to see if the retained teeth are crowding or affecting his bite and when it's best to have them removed.

| I know and I honestly didn't even think about removing baby teeth at the time . I hate putting him through that again he is so small. When we do have them taken out should I also have his dew claws removed? I don't know much about that topic either? Poor Knox I'm a first time dog Mommy and am still learning.

| Dew claws are usually removed when they are a few days old. I'm surprised this wasn't already done. Not sure, but he may be too old now - but ask your vet. |

| Thanks for everyones help. I am leaving the dew claws. Knox will have his baby teeth pulled on the 19th. I hate having him go through another surgery, but I know the teeth will cause problems if I don't. I am sure all will be fine, I just worry always.
