I thought she would have been sick closer to the time she ate the raw, too. I gave it to her yesterday and today and no stomach troubles so she must have gotten into something else that day.

I posted a thread about feeding my puppy Halo so I started reading this thread and looked into Wellness and Blue Buffalo but they both list garlic as an ingredient but I've read that garlic is bad for dogs. I'm so confused! This is my first puppy and I'm getting her in a couple of days and I'm really freaking out over the right food to feed her.

These are the real baddies to avoid. There will always be other hot button ingredients that there is disagreement over. I think if you avoid these you are will ahead of the game, then you can make personal decisions about other ingredients. For instance I have no idea if Canola oil is good or bad. I just avoid it because there are choices out there that don't use it.

I have read that feeding garlic is a natural remedy to help repel fleas from your dog. I haven't read anything negative so far. I guess it is just like raising kids; people decide something is good for them and later they decide otherwise. My friend works for Banfield and calls the Royal Canine the "Cadillac of dog foods". I use Blue Buffalo, which is noted for being holistic. I've heard good things about the Nature's Recipe and the Halo food as well. Once you get your pup, you will learn what works. (: Good luck to you; I commend you for researching before getting your puppy.

FYI - I believe Holistic Select Puppy formula does not contain garlic if it worries you that much.

My little girl is eating medi-cal development which was what the breeder started her on.She's not real fond of it so now i've been mixing alittle chicken soup for the puppy lovers soul and crumbling alittle cooked carrot and cooked chicken through it.She seems to like the variety.
