| New Yorkie grandma needs Advice Hello, Tiffany had 4 babies on 08-04-10. This is her first liter and Grandma, (thats me), could really use some advice from all of yall experienced Yorkie owners on when to vaccinate and worm the puppies and what to use. I am a nurse so I am not sqimish about giving shots or medicine. I have done research but every site says something different. And I really respect the fact that the information I get here will be specific for Yorkies. Also, suggestions on the best food for mama and babies would be appriciated. Thank you so much in advance for your help. I want nothing but the best for my babies and Tiffany.

| You might want to crosspost this in the breeders section. You might get more responses there. BTW, Congrats on the new little ones! One thing I do want to mention is that as a buyer, I prefer to have the shots record from the vet. I don't know if you were planning on doing all that yourself (you mentioned being a nurse & not being squeamish). But I like to have a vet's records &number where it can be verified what was given & when. But that's just me.

| I use the Jean Dodd schedle for vaccinating. Vaccination Schedule Recommendations For Dogs I do not worm puppies unless they have worms, and if the other dogs do not have worms, the puppies won't get them either. I do not believe in feeding them poison unnecessarily. I do not force mine to wean, I let the mother decide when it's time. I start to supplement them at 4 weeks with goats milk and baby rice cereal. Then add Royal Canin baby dog kibble at 6 weeks. Congratulatiuons on your new babies. |
