Donating YT 500 Club Member | Dog food... Blue Buffalo vs. Halo.. What is a good quality food? Any recommendations on dog food? Any lines better then these? I have Taycie on Blue Buffalo small breed puppy chicken and oatmeal and she has done wonderfully on it since day one... my concern is the chicken meal in it? Is that bad.. I saw that Halo dosen't have that and I am thinking of switching but at the same time she has done just fine with BB I am nervous. I also get nervous about the amount of protein and I know that is hard for their little kidneys.. what is a good amout? I know Halo is 27 percent is that to much?.. Ive looked at Canidae Innova Evo and many more quality food but their protein levels scare me!.. Any thoughts? What do you like to feed your babies? |

| I would be interested in hearing what people think. Just got my pup yesterday and the breeder was using Nature's Logic which is 36% protein. Can't find that brand around me so I just bought some Blue Buffalo puppy food. |

| My baby tried Taste of the Wild and didn't like it at all. She is on Blue Buffalo puppy now and absolutely loves it. I know it is a good food... don't know about chicken meal though. Hope someone else here can help you.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Chicken Meal is Fine.... It's chicken by product that you don't want... She did not care for Blue B but I know it's a great product ....I feed Izzy Natures Variety Raw and natural Balance Kibble sweet potato and Bison.. She LOVES IT!!

Chicken meal is simply chicken that has been baked to remove bacteria and other toxins. Chicken is simply pure chicken. What people dont know about chicken, is that it is made mostly of water. If a label on a bag of dog food says %60 whole chicken, that is quite misleading as that does not take into account how much of that %60 of chicken is left after baking it to remove unwanted substances! When the label on the bag says %60 of chicken meal, your getting more of the chicken because the product has already been baked to remove unwanted affects such as bacteria.

| Blue Buffalo is a fine food. They have a grainfree line called Blue Wilderness as well that I prefer but both are good foods. I feed a 33% and 40% protein food (Acana and Orijen). Protein, as long as it's coming from quality meat sources, is a good thing.

| Levi eats Orijen now, but ate Blue Buffalo for quite some time and did very well on it. And as someone mentioned earlier chicken meal is fine - it's by-products that are nasty and bad.

| Blue Buffalo is a premium dog food and it is readily available because you can purchase it at Petsmart. If you have these other dog foods in stores near you, I would recommend checking them out: Orijen, Acana, Nature's Variety Instinct, and Innova. My boys' favorite is Orijen.

| Fynnlie just started on BB Small Breed Puppy Chicken and Oatmeal. It is the first kibble that he will eat by itself. I had to mix in a little wet food with it before he'd even go near it.

| My furbaby is on blue also and he loves it. What the trainer recommended to us was when you get a dog food look at the first 5 ingredients, make sure they are things like, chicken, veggies. She said stay away from foods that have corn in them because they tend to be fillers. Hope this helps! |
