Bump On my yorkie's back leg - YorkieTalk.com Forums

Hi
So my baby is 4.5 months old male yorkie, and yesterday as I was petting him, I realized there is a bump near his right leg, close to his butt. The bump is maybe the size of a small marble. At first I thought it might be a mosquito bite but I realized it is clearly under his skin. He does not seem sick, his energy level is quite high and he's very playful. Since the vet is closed today, I am really freaking out. I'm wondering if anyone has seen anything like this on their puppies, and what the doctor has generally said. Is it something life-threatening? I think he's too young for it to be cancer or anything along those lines, but I am really scared nonetheless. So please, if anyone has seen this on their pups, can you please tell me what this could be?

I should also add that his next appointment for his last set of shots is next Saturday. Do you think I should take him in before then, or wait until next Saturday?

Has he recently had a shot in that area? Sometimes they get a bump at the injections site and it will go away in 2-4 weeks. Try not to worry, I know easier said than done, but it probably is nothing to be concerned about and can wait for your vet to check it out. If he hasn't had a shot there recently maybe you can move up his vet appointment to give you peace of mind. Keep us posted.

I don't know what it could be but I know exactly how you feel! Could it be an insect bite? Maybe you could try and put some ice on it. If the bump doesn't get smaller today I would take him to the vet's tomorrow...
We hope and pray it is nothing serious!

he has had a shot there last week. And I hope that is the reason that the bump is there, but I didn't notice it earlier. I will call the vet tomorrow just to make sure. Thank you so much for your answers. It made me feel better even though I'm still freaking out

If he had a shot last week then that's what the bump is from . It's normal but yes for your peace of mind give the vet a call .
