I feed her canine caviar free range venison. It's a great food. I have to feed her three times a day to help her digest her food. She gets about 1/4th a cup a day. She's about two years and two months old. She's ate her poop since I got her. I'll try one chunk in the morning and one in the evening to see if that helps. |
Bump cuz theres many newbies here lately and cuz it makes me laugh so hard... Sorry All dogs boots....!!!! hehehehehe |

My Reese Cup!! I have a 3 month old that weighs 2.11 lbs. Should I start out with 1 chunk in the morning and night? She has been eating her poop since I got her. I panicked at first and it scared her. So now if I can catch her, I don't get loud I just tell her no no use the potty. Like others on here have said, she will poop and try to eat it very fast or try to hide and poop. I am going to try the pineapple. |
Just to update... Gave Reese the frozen pineapple cut up. Had to feed it to her. That worked the first 2 times, then she quit eating it. She walks up to it, smells and walks away - that's the pineapple. Her normal diet was her Royal Canine and then I was giving her bacon thru out the day and some mornings I would give her oatmeal and then the RC was free feed. Once I started the pineapple I only let her have the RC - then when she decided after the 2nd day she would not eat the pineapple, I mixed it up in the oatmeal, and that is working some. As for the poop, the first 2 days she pooped and walked away...and I was soo happy; ha...since I had to start back giving her oatmeal just to get her to eat the pineapple I caught her this morning wanting to "try out" her poop again... ugh. The pineapple did work, but now since I can't get her to eat it unless I mix it, I don't think it is working as well. But, I will not give up. I did cave in and give her a some bacon on one of those days. I also give her a little milk. Think I may try to cut out the milk and bacon altogether and continue the pineapple with the oatmeal. |
Don't give up!! (i have but you shouldn't) |
This is becoming a big problem. Max is eating his poop. I read once that dogs will do that if you get very angry if they poop in the wrong place (and you don't have to get mad more than once). so they eat it to hide the poop so that you will not be angry with them. Tina |
Seems to be a new run on POOP EATING PUPPIES........so I guess the thread of shame for the poop eaters needs a bump. :poof_smiley: |

This thread is so helpful and quite amusing! Thought it was time to bring it to the top again, especially because I need some reminders. :) |
Thank goodness... and here I thought there was something seriously wrong with my Bella... she loves her poop almost more than her food. Lol. She also tries to hide the poop from me... strange? I've also heard that a dog in a smaller place will more than likely 'eat' his poop than a dog in a bigger space. Is that true? |
Maybe I should start over and try the pineapple again. Max has his sneakiness down to a science. He waits until he knows I'm occupied and runs off to have an "accident" when I'm not paying attention (which could be right after we go for a long walk! |

This is Chase too! I think I've tried everything. We did the pineapple thing a couple years ago, and about 2 weeks in I think it was helping since for the first time he actually would leave the poo occasionally. I was so excited! Then after about a week, he would throw up 15-30 minutes after having his pineapple. He did it 3 days in a row, so I didn't give it for a week. He was fine (and back to eating all the poo), so I tried it again and he threw up. Ugh! I haven't tried it again since. Last year, after cleaning up the WORST vomit that was mostly poo he had eaten, I tried the Solid Gold SEP. I did what the container said, and even emailed the company and talked to them about giving him the double amount as it was safe. I went through 3 containers (4 months I think) and it never made a difference. I give it to both Chase and Calvin since Chase will eat both of their poo. Most of the time on my days off I can get to it before he does since I watch him like a hawk! On my work days there is ALWAYS some poo crumbs on the pad. We take them out for a walk before we leave and he will go, but there is still poo. Last weekend I had a friend over to watch them during the day since we were going to be gone 16 hours. She didn't watch them closely and he had eaten all the poo for that day (which is normally 3 for Calvin and 2-3 for Chase). About an hour after we got home, he threw up the first time, then again 2 more times. It was SO gross, and I know it was from all the poo that day. I wish we could get him to not eat it....Any ideas or suggestions? They do get a treat for going poo (just not when Chase eats it). |
My dog won't eat the chunks, but he loves the crushed. I just started Sunday. He's 10 pounds. I give him 2 teaspoons with his food twice a day. Am I wasting my time? |
