| ![]() I would never feed Eukanuba, personally. For one, their ingredients aren't really good, and it's overpriced for the quality that it is. At my Petsmart, the 6lb bag was $15. I can get Acana, for example, in a 5.5lb bag for $14 and I'm feeding less of it and it's higher quality ingredients. Never once been a recall on Champion Pet Foods. Fromm is also a great family owned dog food that has never been recalled. I like these places because they have their own factories and make their own dog food. Blue Buffalo, Wellness, and Natural Balance are a few good ones you can find in Petco, Petsmart, etc. I like this website because it describes the ingredients in a simple term and why they are good/bad. Eukanuba Dry Dog Food | Review and Rating I'm sure some dogs do fine on Eukanuba, but it's never something I would personally recommend or feed. With that said, I do feel Eukanuba is a way step up from foods like Kibbles n Bits, Beneful and Pedigree, etc. The first ingredients are chicken, chicken by-product meal, corn meal, ground whole grain sorghum, ground whole grain barley. The first ingredient (chicken) actually is not the first ingredient. Raw chicken contains about 80% water. After cooking, most of that moisture is lost… reducing the meat content to just 20% of its original weight. By-products are just nasty. And corn meal, and grains are the rest of the first ingredients. Dogs are carnivores, they need more meat! ![]() This is just my non professional opinion and I did a crapload of research on dog food, thinking not one was truly better than the other, but I've learned what works best for Jackson anyways is high protein, low carbs, high meat content foods, what a dog was meant to eat.

| ![]() I wouldn't personally use Eukanuba. Check out some of the reviews here: Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble and try to find a 4, 5, or 6 star food for your little one. In my experience, when I started feeding the higher quality foods my babies ate less and pooped out less too!

Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Thanks orinurse and Brister. I will keep her on chicken soup for the dog because that is what the breeder used. And i do see it on the list of 5 or 6 star foods. Let me go because i have a hell of a drive. Thanks again! |

| ![]() I recently switched from Eukanuba to Orijen (made by Champion Pet Foods as stated by Britster). At the time my little man Miloh came into my life, the breeder had him on Eukanuba, but I began noticing his mouth & poop had a foul smell. After doing my research, I noticed that both Acana & Orijen (made by same company) worked well for him. It's been less than 2 weeks that we've made our switch, but the differences are very noticeable! ![]() Last edited by e_gar; 08-07-2010 at 07:22 AM. |

I have read that it is wise to rotate foods occasionally to prevent dogs becoming allergic to the foods. By that they mean if you are feeding a chicken based food, then after awhile switch to a lamb based food. I have done that on occasion but I don't know if it really matters any. I wish Chicken Soup carried a lamb based food but they don't. I know Canidae has a chicken based food and a lamb based food. All my babies have always liked the chicken based foods the best. None of mine do well on foods that have beef in them or foods that have a lot of fish meal in them. | |
