Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() So if I read the OP right, it's not that he was given the wrong medicine, but that you were supposed to give him 1/2 of the pill every time (62.5 mg is half of 125 mg). This is a good reminder for everyone to look at your prescriptions and ask questions about how much/ how often before you leave your vets office. That goes for the pharmacy with your meds, too.

| ![]() Well yes I could give him 1/2 of a pill but them i'm giving him 2 extra weeks worth of meds. The box said that I should give him 1 pill every 12 hours, not 1/2 a pill. I didn't go to the vet for the meds, I just picked up his meds from the vet. I called because I already knew what was wrong. No it wasn't the wrong medicine but yes he was given the wrong dosage. I felt it was important for the vet to know what had happened. This is a good reminder to double check all meds before administering. Quote:

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() Agreed. At first I thought that maybe the bottle was poorly labeled- usually they don't say give X mg, they say 1 tablet or 1/2 tablet etc. But Clavomax does come in 62.5 mg tabs so it could go either way. I know sometimes my vet will give me a larger dosage of med and have me divide it because it's less expensive, but she's always very good about going over those instructions with me and writing out the instructions on the label so that it reflects the correct dosage.

| ![]() That's what I hoped it was too. I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt (hoping it was mislabeled) but it wasn't. That's a good idea tho about getting a larger dosage and dividing it. This was a big lesson to me to watch all meds CLOSELY! They were very apologetic to me and very good about everything, I just hope this reminds THEM too to be more careful! Quote:

| ![]() No you don't need a vet to prescribe it. This is where I get mine from and I give Bailey Power Probiotic. Holistic Veterinarian Pet Nutritionist Holistic Pet Care
