| I think I hurt my baby's bum! Roxie's hair is getting really long, and I couldn't get a grooming appointment until next weekend. Yesterday she pooed and it got all stuck in her hair. It was a really gross mess. I gave her a bath, and then decided to trim the hair around her butt with the electric clippers. I think I may have hurt her. She has been skidding around the carpet on her butt periodically, and when she sits down she looks like she is in pain. Her butt looks a little red, but it wasn't bleeding or anything. Should I put something on it, like Neosporin, or just leave it be? I'm also afraid she won't poop if her butt hurts.

| I don't think Neosporane is a good idea~she will lick it off. If it were me I would call the vet and see what he suggests. Did you have the guard on the clipper when you trimmed? Maybe one of the groomers will come along and have a suggestion for you. But until you get a better answer I would be putting a call in to my vet.

| You didnt hurt her. I had this same problem with Winnie. I thought she had an anal gland issue because she was scooting along the floor and sitting funny but it is just because her private area feels different to her. She will get used to it after a few days. |

| I use a small scissors to cut off "kling-ons", I'm afriad of the clippers...lol. And usually I use baby wipes after Merlin did his business. Maybe you could just use some vaseline? Ask your vet to be on the safe side. |

| If she's skidding/scooting on the carpet, her anal glands might need to be expressed. You can have the vet or a groomer do it for you. |

| I did bring her to the vet, and unfortunately I did knick her butt with the trimmers. He gave me some cream to put on her, and said she should be better in another day or so. He also expressed her anal glands while we were there because he said they were kind of full. I hope she gets back to her old self soon!
