| I know there is a map identifying the areas where heartworm is prevelant. California, before Katrina had no problem, but still miniscule compared to other parts of the country. But you're right, being Sacramento is a farm country, the possibility of California not spraying for mosquitoes is probably slim. It would be best to keep her on the meds all year around.

I hate the idea of putting her on medication for so long, but she loves being outside. She's never outside unsupervised, but I can't protect her from tiny mosquitoes. Bathing her with Minksheen and having her wear a little dress or shirt, I don't know how else to protect her from mosquitoes. I don't know if Frontline kills them.

There is no deep frost in California, well except the Sierra Mountains. So, mosquitoes are prevelaint throughout the year. Especially where water ways are not running. They are prevelent in stagnant water. Even where water is collected in old tires, barrels, etc. If at anytime there is a gap in the heartworm meds. You will have to have your pup retested prior to putting her back on them.
