| Nutrical I got my yorkie puppy today! His name is Yoni (yo-nee) and he is absolutely adorable. I love him so much already! I know I posted on here a few days ago saying that my puppy was due to be born soon, so anyone who read that might be confused as to why I have my puppy already. Well, my cousin's dog gave birth to one pup and she decided to keep it, so I got my puppy elsewhere. Anyway, I haven't been able to find nutrical anywhere! We've gone to multiple pet stores this week and a few different vets and it seriously doesn't exist where I live! Is there anything I can use instead of nutrical? If so, how often should I give it to him? Thanks! **edit** One more question.... what would be the best type of food to feed him? I was thinking Evo or Taste of the Wild. Would either of those be good for a pup? My cats and ferrets are fed Evo, but I haven't fully decided what to feed Yoni. Today he was fed the food that the breeder gave me, Cesar, but I don't know if I feel comfortable having him on that food.... Last edited by kaiatbh; 06-04-2010 at 07:09 PM. |

| My puppy has been with me for 3 weeks. He is eating what the breeders gave me which is not the ideal puppy food I want but my vet advised me not to change his food for about one month so he could get used to his home, surroundings, me, etc.... Then you will want to do it real slow by adding a little of the new to a little of the old and each day increasing it. Some people may say different but that is what my vet said. I know Cesar is not the best food but for now I think it is best not to stress him out too much. I wonder why you can't find nutrical? I hear alot about Karo syrup but only in emergency situations.....hopefully someone on here that knows way more than me will respond. Good luck with your lil' baby!

| Congrats on your new baby! You can get Nutrical online if you cannot find it locally. I got mine at drsfostersmith.com for like $7 with free shipping. You can google it for other online stores that carry it. I would keep your new baby on what he's currently eating and let him settle before slowly changing his diet. But EVO and TOTW are both good foods that would be fine for him. EVO has recently been sold to Procter and Gamble though, so I won't be buying it anymore- the quality is most likely going to decrease. I bought a big bag to stock up. |

| It's almost impossible to find Nutrical in Canada, although a friend in Alberta says a pet store there sells it. I had to order online from the US. Have heard Karo syrup works just as well. I would be wary of using Taste of the wild (fish one) as read an article recently that some preservative that is used for the fish can cause some dogs to be ill. The article was on other pet food companies as well. Have heard Acana is a good one as well as Orijen (though a little higher in protein) Congratulations on your new baby! Yoni is a very cute name. You'll have to post some photos for us when you get a chance. |

| Congrats on your new pup! As far as food, the only advice I can give for now is don't change his food immediately. Keep him on the food he's on now for a while until he's use to his new home. When you do change his food, do it slowly to avoid an upset tummy. Regardless of all the "technical" mommy stuff, enjoy your new baby!

| You can order Nutrical from PetEdge.com Wholesale prices on exclusive dog grooming and pet supplies. I believe they will deliver to Canada.

| Congratulations with your new puppy. I agree about not changing foods right away. Once you do change, make sure you mix it with the new food. I have researched foods for our puppies and for my cats. I look at the ingredients on the bag and stay away from anything that says "by products". I am trying to stay with as natural as possible for my puppies and kitties. Nutrical sometimes can even be found locally in your local grocery store, Walmart and pet stores. If it can't be found locally, order online. Enjoy your new "baby". |

| Congratulations on your new edition! I just got my puppy 4 days ago so I know how excited you must be!! I actually just bought nutrical today and got it at petsmart in the vitamin section. I DO have a question about it though, should I give him some every day for preventative reasons or only in emergencies? I know karo syrup is used for emergencies which I have on hand but the directions on the nutrical bottle says I can give him some everyday. What do you all do? Also, I feed my puppy Eukonuba. Thats what his breeder started him with and he seems to really like it. My vet also said that its really great for them, a lil more expensive than other brands of food but only the best for my Oliver!! |
