| Truth about Pet Food I am on an email distribution list from this website. For those of you interested in the safety of your dog food and the politics (remember this is BIG business $$$) you might want to subscribe to be kept update on some of these issues. Follow Up Information on Natura, AAFCO, Delta Society's Ban To keep you updated, the following are updates to several issues that have been discussed on TruthaboutPetFood.com of late. Follow Up Information on Natura, AAFCO, Delta Society's Ban $28,000 worth of Dog Food Stolen, but that's Not the Real Crime Greensboro North Carolina police say someone stole a tractor trailer that had more than $28,000 worth of dog food stored inside. While this is a crime, the real crime is that $28,000 worth of dog food WAS BEING STORED IN A TRAILER; in the sun, in the heat. One of the many things pet owners aren't told about their pet's food, how it is warehoused or stored. $28,000 worth of Dog Food Stolen, but that's Not the Real Crime Is this why FDA has Not Investigated Hundreds of Complaints re Nutro Pet Food? A Pet Owner by the name of 'Worried' provided TruthaboutPetFood.com with some troubling information. It seems that a Mars, Inc. scientist sits on the advisory Science Board to the FDA. Could this position on FDA's Science Board advisory committee be a conflict of interest? Mars, Inc. is the parent company of Nutro Pet Food. Is this why FDA has Not Investigated Hundreds of Complaints re Nutro Pet Food? Wishing you and your pet(s) the best, Susan Thixton Truth about Pet Food Petsumer Report TruthaboutPetFood.com

| Thanks for the link, Cindy. I went to their homepage and bookmarked. Looks to be another good source of info. I have only one comment and that's about the food being left out in a trailer. I'm not sure what effect it would have on the food short term, but I think it's safe to say it's certainly less than ideal for long term storage. I would like to think that the food had been kept in a climate controlled environment, but that's probably asking too much . I imagine there's truths about OUR food we don't want to hear, either. I do know that many boutique brands of dog food are sold through independent distributors. They typically use the little rental metal storage facilities for keeping their food. These are usually not climate controlled and would be no better than the food sitting in a trailer. Interesting question, though. What IS the effect of storage temperature on dog food?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Great links as usual, Cindy ! The Delta Society issue makes me nutso. But also, the corruption of the FDA/USDA makes me sick - and this is just as rampant on the human side too, as you know. There are HUGE former food industry execs now sitting on FDA/USDA...letting them get away with pretty much anything. Anyone who hasn't seen Food Inc. -- you gotta see it! It's not about animal cruelty, it's about what has happened and is happening to our food industry...and it effects our pets too.

| I've been a subscriber to Thixton's site for about a year now and she is truly a pet food advocate. I believe her site is also free and is a good source of info especially what goes into our pet foods. You can read her history on how she started her "crusade", her "rotty" died from ingredient related cancer. Ann, agree about the FDA/USDA
