Royal canine puppy is not an allergy food and has too many ingredients for an allergy dog and acute dermatitis is allergy related so why a food with so many ingredients? Also why antibiotics if there is no skin infection? i strongly recommend you see a dermatologist for this as they have further education in skin issues in dogs and will get to the bottom of it much faster than a vet if there is even any problem as i do not like the use of antibiotics if there is no infection off of a skin scraping unless one was done and there was infection? Just to throw antibiotics at a problem with no diagnosis by scraping is not healthy for a dog with allergy issues in my opinion so i would get a second opinion with a dermatologist before giving antibiotics unless you just forgot to post they did skin scraping and she has a bacterial infection. What antibiotics did they give you - simplicef? I don't like the "THINK" approach when using drugs so please again see a dermatologist so you can get the "KNOW" diagnosis ![]() here is a link on info i wrote on allergies http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...y-what-do.html Last edited by dwerten; 05-31-2010 at 04:19 PM. | |

				   | Tuesday's update ....went back to Petco today to return the Royal Canine and bought a bag of Natural Balance Venison & Sweet potato. I also have the Tropiclean Hypoallergenic Shampoo. I will see what happens with her hair with these changes (and I know it wont happen overnight) and if things don't improve I will see the specialists at LSU. I am hoping that things don't go that far but I will go there if needed. Thanks again for all of your help, it is very reassuring to know that if I have a question that I can count on this group to help get the answer. You guys/gals rock!!

				   | Do you use conditioner too? It might be a combo of what I'm doing but I give Magnus fish oil and use conditioner as well. I use conditioner during his bath as well as the spray on conditioner once or twice a week as I brush him. Something must be working since his hair is really shiny, fluffy, and very soft. Hope things work out well! |

				   | Greetings, Haven't been on in awhile, my Roxie is now 3 years old and has had intermittent bald hind legs for almost two years now. Three vets and way too many rx later, still no cause or cure. (She also itched and scratched constantly) The last vet insisted she (Roxie) had a yeast infection/bacterial infection- we did the meds, she was fine until we stopped the meds. The only help I have had was with organic apple cider vinegar and organic coconut oil, and probiotics. I rinsed her with acv after her bath and towel dried her, gave her about a fourth teaspoon of the coconut oil orally daily, she loves it! and put some on her bald spots. Found info on Earthclinic site. Also used cosmetic pads to wipe her down with acv daily. Did this for about 2 weeks, hair grew in pretty good, I slacked up and hair stopped growing, now we are starting again. I suppose I will have to make this a part of daily routine. |
