| Eye Wash Just a quick question, can You use sterile saline solution as an eye wash for our furbabies? Every once in a while Jada or Bogie will have a hair touch their eye, it is usually when I come in from work when I am combing their hair that I notice it. I just wondered if it was safe to use the plain saline solution, for contact wearers as an eye rinse. I would never want to put something in their eyes that would burn or hurt them in any way.

| We use eye wash (active ingredient: purified water).

| Thanks Nancy. I thought it would be fine, but I second guess everything I put in their tummies and I wanted to be sure about the saline, before using it and harming her eyes in any way. Jada's hair is just about grown out from a bad grooming experience,(she shaved their noses) but still tends to sometimes go straight up towards her little eyes, even with using the topknot gel. I feel confident now about rinsing her eyes with the saline when that happens from now on. Thanks again for your quick response.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I need to have my post deleted. I thought I did use the saline solution, but I used another Bausch & Lomb product called Eye Relief, it is an eye wash. It contains sterile water and boric acid. Whatever you use make sure it says safe for eyes.

I'm out of saline solution, so I can't even tell you what the bottle says, I thought you could use it in your eyes, but you want to make sure it says "safe for eyes."

| I wear contacts and what I have on hand is sterile saline solution for sensitive eyes, it contains, boric acid, sodium borate, potassium chloride, sodium chloride. It is what I use as a rinse for my contacts an eye rinse for myself if I have an irritation in my eyes. I wonder if it is safe?

| This is just Walgreen's brand Soothing Eye Wash (isotonic buffered preserved eye irrigation solution). I recall something about being told not to use contact solution, but could be thinking of something else. Anyway, I wouldn't. Plain eye wash...

| Thanks ladies, I will stop at Wal-greens tomorrow and pick up the eye wash. I was just afraid to use the saline even though I use it in my eyes.
